President “Shut Down the Virus” admits defeat
During the 2020 campaign, Joe Biden repeatedly vowed that he would “shut down the virus.”
See, unlike Trump who had no plan to stop the pandemic, Biden had a plan. And if we elected him president, this man with a plan wouldn’t shut down the economy. He wouldn’t shut down the country. He would “shut down the virus.”
Like his repeated boast of wanting to take Donald Trump out behind the gym and beat him up, Joe Biden’s repeated vow to “shut down the virus” was all hat and no cattle.
Yesterday in a meeting with US governors, President “Shut Down the Virus” admitted that there is no federal solution for shutting down the virus. It has to happen at the state level.
After passing off his unfinished homework to the states, the man with the plan to shut down the virus hobbled off to Marine One and flew off to his Delaware beach house.
Biden’s grand strategy for COVID is working out about as well as his grand strategy for leaving Afghanistan.
And just like the bungled Afghanistan withdrawal, when the going gets tough, Biden heads out of town to hide.
In July 2020, Joe Biden (or whoever manages his Twitter account) tweeted:
To beat COVID-19, we need a coordinated national response from the federal government — but Donald Trump refuses to do his job. I’ve laid out exactly what I would do, and I encourage this president to adopt the plan in its entirety
Yes, and you also said you wanted to beat up Donald Trump behind the gym.
In August, Biden blasted President Trump for what he described as “passing the blame” to states by making governors responsible for coordinating testing, adding “We’ve got to do better.”
Well, maybe we do, but you aren’t the guy to do it, you cocked-up blowhard.
So the guy who boasted that he had a federal solution to “shut down the virus” and told governors who wouldn’t cooperate with his plan to “get out of the way” is now asking governors to get back in the way and “shut down the virus” for him because there is no federal solution.
Now, anybody with half a brain knew that Joe Biden’s claim that he would “shut down the virus” was bullshit. Even if Joe Biden was moderately competent, such a claim would have been ridiculous.
And now Biden’s people are in so far over their heads they can’t see daylight. They oversold and under-delivered. And they know it. So as this administration does with every other crisis it causes, the White House now wants to place the blame somewhere else.
Sundance at the Conservative Treehouse pointed out yesterday that the White House can see a looming crisis of their own making. So they’re trying to pass it off to the states.
By every measure, Joe Biden’s fledgling presidency is a failure.
And while there may be a modicum of Schadenfreude in knowing that, it’s hard to enjoy Biden’s failure because at the end of day, it is we the people who are paying the price.
