Winter storm batters Northeast

OAN Newsroom
UPDATED 8:00 AM PT — Wednesday, December 4, 2019
The winter storm that dumped snow on half the country is making its way east, but not before battering New England. Snow covered much of Massachusetts Tuesday with some areas receiving more than two feet over the last couple days. Hundreds of schools were closed and thousands of snow plows were deployed to city streets. The governor urged residents to avoid hitting the roads.
Meanwhile, those taking to the skies ran into trouble after hundreds of flights were either cancelled or delayed.
“We came here anyway because it showed we had a flight for 6:30 a.m. When we got in here there were no seats, so the next flight was 8:30 p.m. and here we go, we’re here all day.”

Conditions were easier in New York, which saw record breaking snowfall earlier in the week. The governor declared states of emergencies in several counties, including Albany which received a whopping 22 inches on Monday. With the official start of winter still weeks away, many are hoping this storm isn’t a prelude of what’s to come.
“First week in December, we’re hoping this isn’t a sense of what might be coming for the next several months,” said Keith Hickey, a town manager in Winchendon.
The storm is now moving toward Canada and the Atlantic Ocean.
