Southern California Surgery Center Staffers Who Blocked ICE Apprehension Are Charged With Obstruction

RedState

In early July, on the cusp of the ICE riots in Los Angeles, my colleague Ward Clark covered one of the most ridiculous instances of ICE resistance in Southern California.

THE FACTS: ICE officers conducted a targeted enforcement operation to arrest two illegal aliens. Officers in clearly marked ICE bullet proof vests approached the illegal alien targets as they exited a vehicle.

One of the illegal aliens, Denis Guillen-Solis who is from Honduras, fled on foot to evade law enforcement. He ended up near the Ontario Advanced Surgical Center where hospital staff assaulted law enforcement and drug the officer and illegal alien into the facility.

Then, the staff attempted to obstruct the arrest by locking the door, blocking law enforcement vehicles from moving, and even called the cops claiming there was a “kidnapping.”

On Friday, Fox News Senior Correspondent Bill Melugin exclusively reported that the two medical staffers in the video have now been charged federally with assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal agents.

FAFO in spades.

Some key portions of Melugin's X post:

I'm told JOSE DE JESUS ORTEGA and DANIELLE NADINE DAVILA have both been charged with violations of 18 USC 111 (assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal agents). Both have a criminal arrest warrant signed off on by a federal judge.  I'm told ORTEGA was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents this morning, while DAVILA is wanted and federal authorities are actively looking for her now.

Hoo boy. Now, Davila may be adding fugitive from justice to the boatload of charges she already has lodged against her. Not a good look.

Melugin's post continued,

The feds allege that when an ICE agent partially detained the alien and he fell down near the front door of the surgery center, workers at the facility pulled the alien inside to get him away from ICE. The feds say Ortega and Davila could then be seen in multiple videos physically blocking ICE from reaching the alien by putting their hands on the agent and wedging themselves between him and the Honduran man. The Honduran man was ultimately taken into federal custody.

According to the affidavit, HSI conducted extensive surveillance on ORTEGA and DAVILA after the incident to confirm their identities.

Bill Essayli, United States District Attorney for the Central District of California, issued this statement to Fox News:

"This story is another example of a false narrative peddled by irresponsible members of the media in furtherance of a political agenda to delegitimize federal agents. The illegal alien arrested inside the medical center was not a patient and was not in any way affiliated with that location. He ran inside for cover and these medical workers attempted to block his apprehension by assaulting our agents," U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli told Fox News in a statement.

For these Millennials and Gen Zers who think they are righteous in their cause, these arrests are showing that this is not the way. Even if Jose de Jesus Ortega and Danielle Nadine Davila manage to free themselves from these charges, that video showing their actions will follow them throughout their careers. Not every employer looks favorably on social justice warriors — companies just want people who are competent at their jobs and are there to perform them. Anything else is a distraction and a lawsuit waiting to happen. Don't be surprised if Ontario Advanced Surgical Center quietly divests itself of those two employees for cause.

And Davila may be hiding, but as Border Czar Tom Homan has promised illegal immigrants trying to skirt apprehension: "We will find you."

For the people participating in ICE targeting and resistance, it will simply not end well. These arrests are just the beginning.
