'Full Speed Ahead': Ron DeSantis Has Bad News for Democrats on Alligator Alcatraz As Poutrage Continues

RedState

If you're a Republican president who has pledged to undo the wrongs committed by your Democrat predecessor on the issue of illegal immigration, you could have no greater ally at the state level than Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Under President Joe Biden's disastrous reign, DeSantis consistently pushed back on the administration's dangerous open border policies. When they wouldn't listen, DeSantis joined Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in putting illegals flown into his state in the dead of night on buses and flights to so-called sanctuary cities, including Martha's Vineyard, where howls of outrage from latte leftists immediately commenced.

DeSantis has been a supporter of President Donald Trump's border security policies since Day One, vowing to stand with DHS' and ICE's efforts to locate criminal illegal immigrants and deport them back to their home countries.

Perhaps the most notable way DeSantis has done this is via the creation of Alligator Alcatraz, a temporary detention center situated at an aircraft training facility in the Florida Everglades, which was up and running in a matter of days, and which has sent the left and their media allies into meltdown mode.

Defiant and undeterred by the bad faith efforts of his critics, DeSantis announced Friday during a press conference where he debunked Dem/media talking points without even breaking a sweat in the sweltering heat that the first deportation flights were underway as of this week:

DeSantis said Friday that "The whole purpose is to make this be a place that can facilitate increased frequency and numbers of deportations of illegal aliens, and that is the goal."

"And one of the reasons why this was a sensible spot is because you have this runway that's right here. You don't have to drive them an hour to an airport. You go a couple thousand feet and they can be on a plane and out of here," the governor added.

"This airport is able to accept commercial-sized aircraft and conduct both day and nighttime operations," DeSantis also said. "And so that's what it's all about - to be able to help process and remove folks that are illegally in the state of Florida and the United States of America. So we look forward to this cadence increasing."

DeSantis also shared this on X:

We stood up Alligator Alcatraz in just eight days as a centralized facility for deportation staging. The facility has a two-mile runway that allows federal military aircraft to transport illegal aliens out of the country, right on site. These deportation flights operated by DHS are underway, and we will support efforts to increase cadence of the flights so that the number of illegal aliens deported keeps increasing.

This is a mandate set upon us by the American people. Florida’s state and local agencies are serving as force multipliers for federal efforts to arrest and deport illegal aliens. We’re charging full speed ahead to deliver on immigration enforcement.

DHS had a five-word response to the news: "Fire up the deportation planes."

This is what we voted for.
