The mainstream media willingly hides Biden’s destruction of America

Now that the poll numbers are so bad and the open border is such an obvious disaster, even Ruth Marcus of the WaPo has noticed the problem. Or, more accurately, she’s noticed the problem in a way unique to leftist media outlets.

Thus, according to Marcus, the problem isn’t that Biden and his administration caused the myriad failures plaguing America. It’s just that Biden hasn’t had the political freedom to fix it. The public must see that nothing is Biden’s fault. According to the sycophant media, Biden is one of the best presidents we have ever had. The public, though, doesn’t see that because the MAGA Republicans are blocking his wonderful policies:

On Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,” Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus stated that President Joe Biden has to do something on the border since it “has gotten much worse” since Biden was running, but he hasn’t had “the political freedom” to do so.

When Biden took his oath as President, it included enforcing all the laws, not just ones he liked.

During the 2020 campaign, though, he essentially promised that he would not enforce immigration laws, and since January 20, 2020, he’s kept that promise. The border is a sieve, but the Biden Administration continually lies that it is closed:

While he pledged during the election campaign to roll back President Trump’s policies that have reduced illegal immigration on his first day in office on Jan. 20, Biden said Tuesday that it would take about six months to reverse Trump’s actions enforcing immigration laws.

When Trump was in office, he worked very hard to enforce the immigration laws Congress had passed, and for that, he was repeatedly called a xenophobe and a racist. The media and other Democrats frequently visited the border in protest. Since Biden took office, though, those same people have shown little interest in the border. No matter how many people have died, been raped, or been trafficked, Democrats have been silent.

The only reason there is the current focus is the poll numbers. Now, they must pretend to care.

Before the polls came out, Democrat politicians throughout the country declared their cities and states would be sanctuaries for illegals, who would not have to worry about law enforcement and being sent back. Democrats assured the public that illegals would be of great economic benefit, not a cost. But now, these lawless politicians are whining like little piggies that they have had enough. They need money, and they claim that the new Texas policy of sending them busloads of illegals is racist.

Ruth Marcus and other Democrat campaign workers, posing as journalists, are trying to scare the public that Trump is a dictator, but now she complains that Biden doesn’t have the political freedom to do his job:

Democrats have never had a problem with Democrats acting as dictators. Obama said repeatedly that he didn’t have the authority to change immigration on his own, yet he managed to do it anyway with DACA. “Before taking executive action on immigration, President Obama stated 22 times that he does not have the authority to change immigration laws on his own.” Now, the media, many judges, and other Democrats treat DACA as if it is the law of the land instead of a pure abuse of power by Obama.

The media and other Democrats don’t have problems with regulators or Presidents abusing their power as long as they are pushing their radical agenda to remake America.

The problem they have with Trump is that he wants to enforce the border laws and that he is trying to give the power, money, and freedom back to the people, which is where it belongs. The media, other Democrats, and many establishment Republicans can’t stand an outsider trying to reduce their power in DC, so they intentionally spread misinformation that Trump is the dictator.

The choice gets easier every day. To save America, we need Trump or someone like Trump, which is hard to find. The media and other Democrats will set out to destroy any other Republican if they are able to dispose of Trump.

‘Liberty and Justice For All’ – A Tattered Cliche?

One set of laws for Donald Trump and his supporters, and another set for the harassers

Throughout history, the tyrannical abuse of governmental power has been a fearsome thing to behold. Wise men instituted laws in an effort to tame that abuse. The Constitution of the United States, for example, was framed in large part as a prophylactic against the coercive power of the state. The Framers witnessed the “long train of abuses and usurpations” perpetrated by the British crown and resolved to respond. The Constitution dealt with many other things, to be sure, but concern about tyrannical abuse of power by the government and its minions is patent from the opening paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence straight through the Constitution and its Amendments. The idea was that we Americans would live in a polity governed by “laws, not men.” That is to say, laws would be legitimately formulated, clearly defined, and administered impartially, so far as was humanly possible. How are we doing on that score?

Not so well.

The terms “administrative state” and “deep state” entered parlance only about seven years ago. The realities those phrases name long predate their currency, but Donald Trump was the lens through which worry about those legitimacy-devouring, essentially tyrannical phenomena crystallized. During the 2016 campaign, Trump’s chief strategist Steven Bannon raised eyebrows when he said that “deconstructing the administrative state” was a high priority. In the event, Trump’s success on that task was only a patchwork affair, but he did make an effort.

What prompts these thoughts is the spectacle, partly risible, partly terrifying, of the federal government’s ongoing vendetta against a single individual it cannot countenance. That individual, of course, is Donald Trump. And while the focus of its vendetta is against Trump the man—or, more precisely, Trump the presidential candidate—its animus has spilled over to embrace anyone tainted by association with the Trump phenomenon. Into this category fall the hundreds of people who had the misfortune to visit the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Opinions differ about the state of popular sentiment when it comes to the current disposition of the United States government. I have by degrees joined the camp that has grave doubts about its legitimacy. I do not, for example, believe that the hallowed ideal of “liberty and justice for all” is these days much more than a tattered cliché, a pious nostrum without substance.

One of the great poster children for this erosion of public support—and, consequently, of political legitimacy—is the FBI. At a time when its operations are so patently partisan, it is hard to maintain confidence in its beneficence. Consider the news about Charles McGonigal, former head of Counterintelligence for the FBI, boss of  FBI love bird Peter “Mr. Insurance Policy” Strzok, and vigorous investigator of the Trump Russia Collusion hoax. Wouldn’t you know it: the chap who went after George Papadopoulos and others in Trump’s circle was just fined and sentenced to four years in prison for—wait for it—colluding with Russia.

You might argue that McGonigal’s comeuppance shows that “the system works,” that the FBI can effectively police itself, etc. I would counter that it is yet another reminder that the deep-state, anti-Trump forces operate primarily by what the Freudians call projection, by being guilty of what they accuse others of. There is a hilarious video collage making the rounds of various pundits and politicians warning that the world, or at least our democratic republic, will come to a sudden and ignominious end if, heaven forfend, Donald Trump should be elected again in 2024. Trump will assassinate generals, you see, shoot visitors to the White House, suspend the Constitution, and kill democracy. It is an inadvertently amusing compilation but also a deeply depressing one since it underscores the sad and debilitating effects of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Trump represents a threat to democracy, ergo he must be prevented from running “by any means necessary,” otherwise so many people might vote for that he would win. That’s the logic. Odd isn’t it? Person X wins in a free and open election. But you don’t like the person. So you declare the election “undemocratic.”

It is here that we must distinguish between “democracy,” which is what would be upheld if Trump were allowed to run, and “Our Democracy™,” that strange, oligarchical confect that can be maintained only by suppressing common, or garden variety democracy.

It is in this context, I believe that we must understand the unhinged legal campaigns unleashed against Trump in four separate jurisdictions.

I say “legal campaigns,” but really they are partisan political assaults masquerading under cover of legal procedures.

That is, they look like legal procedures from the outside; they employ all the paraphernalia of legal procedures. There are courts, lawyers, subpoena, judges.  But  the German Judge Roland Freisler (1893-1945) employed all that machinery, too. He presided over trials.  But he always got the results he wanted.

And this brings me to the activities of Special Counsel Jack Smith, the anti-Trump fanatic and DOJ pit bull who has been charged with taking Trump down in Washington, D.C., where Trump is accused of trying to overturn the 2020 election by “obstructing an official proceeding,” etc., and in Florida, where he is accused of illegally possessing classified documents.

Smith understands that by far his best chance of getting Trump is in Washington—not, I hasten to add, because he has much of a case there but because he has an Obama-appointed anti-Trump judge Tanya Chutkan and a Democratic jury pool that can be counted on to convict Trump on anything he accused of. Andy McCarthy has published a thoroughgoing anatomy of the the legal niceties of the case. He is no friend to Trump, deprecates what he calls his “loathsome behavior,” but does say that he thinks Trump is “being denied due process.” He further acknowledges that the effort to use Section 1512(c) of the federal penal law against Trump will be a “tough case” that is likely to signal “trouble for Smith.”

It’s the opposite in Florida, where the judge is a Trump-appointed jurist and the jury pool is likely to be sympathetic to Trump. In my view, Trump’s possession of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago is no different from Biden’s possession of classified documents in his garage behind his Corvette. Rather, Trump’s case was less egregious than Biden’s. For one thing, Biden was never president.  He had many more documents, in many more, less secure places. And remember: all modern presidents seem to have possession of classified documents after they leave office, but not all former presidents are Donald Trump.

Trump’s lawyers have appealed the Washington case and, in response, Smith has asked the Supreme Court to bypass the usual appeal process and take the case on an expedited schedule. Why? Because the Washington trial was set to begin on March 4, a day before “Super Tuesday,” at which Trump is likely to seal the GOP nomination. Smith hoped that an early trial would harm Trump with voters. So far, legal attacks agains Trump have had the opposite effect, increasing his standing in the polls. That is because voters understand that the legal challenges are legal in name only. At bottom, they are instances of bare-knuckle political warfare.

On Friday, The Wall Street Journal published an editorial whose slug got to the nub of the issue. “The special counsel,” it read, “tries to drag the Justices into his political timetable for the Jan. 6 trial of Donald Trump.” That’s it exactly. Smith wants the Court to decide now, today, so he can pursue his vendetta against Trump on the time table the election calendar has set. Most observers believe that the Court will be more circumspect. The writers of that editorial caution that “The wiser decision would have been to lay out the facts of what the special counsel found and let the voters decide. They chose to prosecute, and the damage has begun to unfold.”

I was talking to a friend about about Smith’s case. He responded “It sounds like the judiciary/prosecution is corruptly trying to interfere with an official proceeding, i.e., the election.” That’s pretty much what I think, too, though I don’t expect Jack Smith to be charged for the tort. Remember, there is one law for Donald Trump and his supporters. They can be harassed, prosecuted, and jailed. There is another law for the nomenklatura that does the harassing, prosecuting, and jailing.

Elon Musk's X facing landmark EU investigation

The investigation into X comes after Elon Musk clashed with an EU chief who warned the billionaire to do more to tackle disinformation about the Israel-Hamas war.

Elon Musk's X is being investigated by the EU over its efforts to combat disinformation and harmful content.

The social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, is the first to be probed under the bloc's Digital Services Act.

It came into force in November 2022 and requires large online companies to do more to tackle illegal content and perceived security risks.

The landmark inquiry into X comes after Mr Musk clashed with European Commissioner Thierry Breton, who warned the billionaire to do more to tackle disinformation about the Israel-Hamas war.

Mr Breton also wrote to Meta, TikTok, and Google to remind them of their obligations under the act, and each highlighted steps they were taking to fight fake news.

But only X has received a formal request for information under the legislation.

The company said it would comply with the regulatory process.

EU concerned about X's fact-checking

The investigation will cover X's community notes feature, which allows users to flag false or misleading content

An EU Commission spokesperson said it was concerned about the feature's effectiveness.

It has largely taken the place of Twitter's old fact-checking team, which Mr Musk gutted during mass lay-offs after purchasing the company last October.

Mr Musk himself has been fact-checked by the system, but claimed it was being gamed by state actors.

The investigation will also look into the change of policy around verification, with the once sought-after blue ticks now granted to anyone who pays a monthly subscription.

The commission said the probe would include further requests for information, interviews, and inspections.

Should X be found in breach of the act, it could face a fine of up to 6% of its global turnover.

Democrats Have Gotten Even Worse

When Barack Obama refused to leave Washington DC at the end of his term, it broke an important precedent of former Presidents leaving town when their terms were over because we only have one President at a time. That’s part of what drives me nuts about referring to these people by the titles they used to hold – it’s almost a title of nobility, the kind our Constitution expressly forbids.

It's kind of funny, given all the whining Democrats do about Donald Trump “breaking norms,” that they are the ones who pioneered doing just that. Losing the 2000 election, something broke in the Democrats. “NOT MY PRESIDENT” became that face tattoo of the activist left, a mantra they chanted as they demanded “NO WAR FOR OIL” as the anti-war movement goose-stepped through the country.

When Barack Obama won in 2008, the anti-war movement evaporated. Where did they go? No one knows. The wars they insisted end immediately didn’t end, yet they shoved Cindy Sheehan into a suitcase and left the stage.

Throughout all of it, the left whined about “the extreme right!” They were doing this or that, threatening to take away this or that. Pretty much making anyone not a committed leftist a monster was all Democrats had. And it worked.

Never underestimate the stupidity of a large percentage of the population to whom it simply never occurs to question anything authority tells them. If you ever wondered how the Nazis could get their population to embrace such horrible things, look no further than what Democrats have been doing for the last 30 years.

The last 2 Republican presidents were declared “illegitimate” by Democrats because they didn’t get a majority of the popular vote (though Bush did the second time). Curiously, this rule didn’t apply to Bill Clinton, who twice failed to get 50 percent of the popular vote.

Democrats also challenged election results, attempting to overturn them in 2000 and 2016. They’re lucky that only became the greatest threat our democracy could ever face in 2020, or else they’d have to be called hypocrites and pigs.

They also bastardized the language, turning their literal attempts to intimidate members of the Electoral College into changing their votes into heroism, while bringing legal action to challenge state voting law changes imposed by a governor expressly against the plain language of the Constitution as an attempted coup.

For the left, “truth” is a teenage girl and they’re all Jeffrey Epstein, which makes sense considering how many of them were disturbingly close to that pervert (and how they’re still scrambling to hide things like his flight logs from the public).

Institutions were only trusted when Democrats controlled them, subpoenas were “Congressional subpoenas” when issues by a Democrat-controlled House and defiance of them got your home raided and the full weight of the Justice Department dumped on you. Now they’re “Republican subpoenas” and defying them is brave, especially when done accompanied by a declarative “middle-finger” of a statement outside the Capitol building.

Nothing is sacred to the left except their own power. They’ve spent years declaring every loss they suffer in the Supreme Court as a “right-wing court imposing its will on the public.” And now, they’ve gone even further.

They are actively using language designed to inspire violence, possibly assassination of their opponents – I don’t think they care about how far it goes, they just want more James Hodgkinsons. And now they’re fundraising off the idea of “Trump’s Supreme Court.”

A fundraising email not from some fringe left-wing group, but the Biden/Harris campaign itself, opens “Trump’s Supreme Court is at it again.” We don’t have a Republican Court and a Democrat Court, we only have one Court. But anything that displeases the left needs to be authorized and destroyed. Its legitimacy needs to be questioned and destroyed.

The damage they cause is irrelevant, the end result and their own power is all that matters. When some violent leftist activist snaps and tries to kill a Supreme Court Justice simply because they don’t like a ruling, well…that’s already happened, hasn’t it? The inconvenient story was quickly swept under the rug, as the President and most Democrats never bothered to condemn it. They hate it when their plans don’t come to completion – all the hard work for nothing.

The idea of a “Trump Supreme Court” is the latest action by the left to divide the country, and probably their worst so far. The natural progression of their actions is something horrible and violent, which is exactly what they want. Division and all that comes with it is all they have left. As bad as they’ve been in the past, as their agenda is threatened by the idea of voters having their say, they will only get worse and worse.

Something Has To Be Done About the Extremist Factories We Call Universities

On Saturday, some incredibly disturbing news was dropped by RedState revealing data about how the 18-24 crowd feels about the war between Israel and Hamas. Despite it being disturbing, it probably wasn't shocking, per se.

As Bog Hoge noted, the young adult crowd believes by a slim majority that Israel should be ended and its lands and people should be turned over to Hamas:

Antisemitism has run rampant on many campuses, and when three top school heads appeared before Congress, they failed to condemn"protesters" who were harassing Jewish students, shouting "intifada revolution," and calling for the extermination of the entire country.

But the news about the poison being spread in our system of higher education just keeps getting more disturbing as a new Harvard-Harris pollshows that an astonishing 51 percent of American youth aged 18-24 indicated support "For Israel to be ended and given to Hamas and the Palestinians."

How this happened isn't hard to connect. Just days ago, three university presidents sat before Congress and flat-out refused to say that they'd come down hard on violent, antisemitic speech, saying instead that calls for genocide against the Jewish people must be placed in "context."

What context it would be acceptable in was not elaborated on, and judging by the "pro-Palestine" chants we hear at these colleges, their acceptable context is any context whatsoever.

This signals a few things.

Firstly, these young adults aren't being taught the proper history of Israel or even Hamas for that matter. They don't know what's at stake for Israel or what Hamas's true goals are. This seems oddly bizarre, seeing as how the purpose of higher education is to be educated. However, they're just being brainwashed to believe falsehoods.

Which brings us to a second point. These universities seem hell-bent on the opposite of education. They are instead focusing on brainwashing, and the only reason you brainwash anyone is to turn them into loyal message carriers or soldiers for the cause. We can easily deduce, without a shadow of a doubt, that the "cause" in question is the leftist cause. It's to empower Democrats, radically change the culture, and weaken the constitutional republic and its free market system until it can be toppled.

That's not a guess. They openly tell you this during their protests.

Which brings me to my third point.

These universities are anti-American strongholds. There are no "ifs, ands, or buts" around this.

Two things need to happen and happen fast.

Firstly, these universities need to stop getting our taxpayer dollars. If they hate us and this country that much, then they'll be deprived of the funds we give them to continue hating and working against us.

Secondly, we need a cultural change in our thinking about universities. For generations, we made going to university one of the top priorities of youth, yet as we can see, this has often resulted in insane amounts of debt and does not guarantee a job anyway. We should put far more emphasis on trade schools or some other forms of education that will lead to minimal debt and a well-paying job.

Universities are not to be trusted with our kids any longer for many reasons, but not the least of them is that they have our kids out there rooting for evil after they prey on the ignorance of their youth.

“Slowly at first. Then suddenly, all at once”

♦ The southern border is unprotected and not secure, because the people in control of the protection and security do not want our borders protected and secure.

The consequences, the all hell breaking loose part, is not a matter of if, but when.  We are in the slow, consistent beginning phase right now, but it will escalate quickly.

Slowly at first, then all at once. That’s the design of extremism when seeded as a change mechanism.  This is also why there is so much leftist agitation and emphasis on keeping the DOJ, FBI and all other federal law enforcement agencies focused on the wrong threat.  This is the cultural aspect, the politically correct aspect, and it is part of the design.

♦ When does the “all at once” break out?

We already know the most likely answer to that question, and the trigger encompasses the one entity who could do something about it, someone who could change the dynamic and confront the effort head on – Donald Trump.

All of the systems targeting Donald Trump are the exact same systems working toward the goals and objectives of the ‘fundamental change.’  This is the cold and stark reality.  You can see it, and many more can see it every day; the awakening is a painfully slow and deliberate process, and the clock is ticking quickly now.

People can wax philosophically about the political intent of open borders as a process for demographic change to the benefit of one political party. I’m not going to debate that issue, because it is esoteric and ignores the bigger part of this dynamic; what is happening in this lawless system is the ‘fundamental change’ part – the holy grail for the radicals.

The situation is dire, but it is not without hope.  Reversing the issue is possible, but deporting and expelling all of the elements of danger is not impossible.  Anyone in front of this issue is going to face a level of attack akin to what we witness Trump facing daily.  We must use the visibility of the enemy intent, their anger, as a tool to continue awakening people.

The attack against Israel by Hamas, and what we are witnessing on the streets in America, via the pro-Hamas rallies, are visual demonstrations to the extent of the radical imported elements that are part of this ideological effort.

Again, the pretending version says, “pro-Palestinian,” but the non-pretending reality is that crowds of terrorist supporters are “pro-Hamas,” gleefully defending the murder, torture, rape and killing of people they do not like.  Don’t sugar coat it.

These pro-Hamas supporters -including the indoctrinated sheeple- are self-identifying; they will need to be confronted.  Their current empowerment stems from the reality that aligned radicals are in charge of the main cultural, social and political institutions around us.

♦ The Lawfare strategy against Donald Trump is weak, generally propped up by this national pretending, and the weak arguments collapse when challenged by the remaining vestiges of constitutional law and order.  This is why you should pay very close attention to the nuance of that battle.  Donald Trump is the trigger for “all at once.”

I believe Donald Trump will succeed.  However, within that success… few will be prepared for the institutional response.

Radicals get violent in defeat.   Look around; remind yourself of our recent history when the radicals get desperate – even in soft defeats.  These are not stable people.

You have choices right now.

Do not be one of the pretenders.

Prepare your life in big and small ways to be anti-fragile, stable, self-sustaining, prepared and able to withstand a barrage of efforts which will come against those who choose not to accept this ‘fundamental change’ demand.

We are talking about life now, issues of quality of life, what you will accept and what you will not accept, and those issues are different for each person.

The immediate issue, the one you should be first to prepare for, is your physical safety when the “slowly” changes to “all at once.”

Here Are the Worst Hot Takes of the Day From Dems on Border Security

Nick Arama reporting for RedState

At this point, one has to think that the Democrats don't want to fix the border and that they want people to flood across without any real check. They don't seem to care about resolving the problem.

But they seem to have some real doozies that are now coming out of the battle over funding security at the border.

First, there's Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX). She's an up-and-comer in the effort to make the "worst" lists. She's got a ways to go though to reach the level of folks like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), but she's a real star at the horrible and ill-informed comment:

Republicans have never gotten immigration right, that's just the fact of it, Crockett claimed. No, it was far more secure under former President Donald Trump. It's Joe Biden who made it worse with his policies; he has a far worse record on immigration. So what is she really saying without realizing that she's saying it: She's bashing Biden. She seems to think dealing with border security is an "absolutely insane" prospect. Then she falsely accused Texas Gov. Greg Abbott of wanting to kill people and the Republicans of defunding border security.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) did something similar when she said that if Biden went along with Republicans on border security, he would get a backlash from the left.

So the left doesn't want border security. Does she understand what she just admitted?

But she did say one thing that's true, Joe Biden needs that coalition and he doesn't have it. As we've seen, Biden is bleeding out people he needs from those groups.

Then there was Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI), who is likely to have people from both sides of the aisle blasting her for her take.

We need to let in people for small businesses and for caregiving, she rants. Then she proclaimed in almost the same breath, "We don't want illegals!" She hasn't gotten her leftist talking point straight and needs to go to "woke school" for reeducation on that one. Didn't she learn "no one is illegal?"

But now we're getting into the top two for the day, one from a newcomer and the other from a Democrat with a history of ridiculous comments.

Rep. Becca Balint (D-VT) is in her first term and she terms herself a progressive, so you know that she has the capability to make some fun comments. She claims House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) "doesn't have seriousness of purpose."

"When you pull out 40,000 feet, you see someone who is essentially doing Putin's bidding."

Oh my, not "Russia, Russia, Russia" again. How is securing our border doing Putin's bidding? That's what Johnson is calling for -- for Democrats to actually have some seriousness of purpose for their real job -- securing our own border. Our defense is their constitutional obligation, not Ukraine's.

That was pretty bad. But I think I have to give the award today to Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX). And it's worse because he's from Texas and should know the problem, but he truly doesn't give a darn. Castro won a prior "silliest take of the day" for his rant about "chainsaw devices" being deployed at the border. Hint: that wasn't even close to being true.

Castro warned the Democrats in the Senate who were considering supporting the Republican proposal for the border, "You will be surrendering to right-wing racism. And more than that, you will be enabling it." Wow, so securing the border is now racist. Along with everything else. If you don't go along with unfettered illegal immigration, you're a racist. The problem here isn't just incompetence, it's a conscious choice to ignore their constitutional obligation. Castro doesn't seem to care about "surrendering" the border.

Biden has a border czar, but here's what she was doing on Saturday rather than addressing any of the problems with the border.

Biden Regime Seeks to Subvert Israel's Plans for Post-Hamas Gaza

Jeff Charles reporting for RedState

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been adamant in his opposition to the Palestinian Authority (PA) governing the Gaza Strip after the Israel Defense Forces wipe out Hamas. However, a recent development suggests this might not matter to the Biden administration, which has been forceful in its contention that the PA should be placed in charge of the region after the Israel-Hamas war concludes.

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan recently participated in a meeting with PA leadership to discuss what happens after Hamas is eliminated.

Driving the news: White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan met on Friday in Ramallah with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and discussed with him how the Palestinian Authority could be involved in governing Gaza after the war ends.

"They absolutely talked about post-conflict Gaza and governance issues and about a revamped and revitalized Palestinian Authority that has the responsibility and accountability for how the future of the Palestinian people is managed," White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said in a briefing with reporters.

Kirby said Sullivan and Abbas discussed the steps needed so the Palestinian Authority would be "more credible, more authentic, and more accountable."

Behind the scenes: U.S. officials say the Biden administration wants the 87-year-old Abbas to conduct wide-ranging reforms, including injecting "new blood" into the Palestinian Authority's leadership. Abbas is in the 18th year of a four-year term and has continued to delay elections.

This move is not likely to make Israel’s government happy. It could come off as the Biden administration working to subvert Israel’s plans for the region. Last month, Netanyahu declared that Israel would not allow the PA to have a say in the governance of the Gaza Strip after the war despite President Joe Biden’s insistence that the organization should be involved.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday firmly stated that the Palestinian Authority (PA) will not have any role in governing the Gaza Strip after Hamas is eradicated. The announcement flies in the face of the Biden administration and the United Nations, both of whom have insisted that this should be the outcome after the war is concluded.

Netanyahu’s declaration comes as the U.S. and U.N. have been pressuring Israel to allow the PA to take over the region.

Israel has no intention of handing Gaza over to the Palestinian Authority once the war is over, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday night as he rebuffed United States pressure to do so.

“The Palestinian Authority in its current form is not able to take responsibly for Gaza,” Netanyahu said.

‘After we fought and did all this, how could we hand it over to them?” Netanyahu asked.

He noted that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has yet to condemn the October 7 massacre that sparked the Gaza war, in which Hamas killed over 1,200 people and seized over 239 hostages.

“Abu Mazen 43 days after the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust has refused to condemn it,” Netanyahu said, adding that there are Palestinian ministers who are celebrating the event.

Nevertheless, the White House seems to be bypassing the Israeli government and is intent on undermining the prime minister’s declaration. This move might have negative consequences not only for U.S.-Israeli relations but also for the people living in Gaza.

Both Hamas and the PA have inflicted numerous human rights abuses against those living in the area for years. Under both of these groups, residents of Gaza and the West Bank have endured extrajudicial killings, torture, arbitrary arrests, and silencing of speech. Taking this into account, perhaps the Biden administration’s insistence on putting the PA in charge of Gaza isn’t the best of ideas.
