David Axelrod Basically Tells Biden to Stop Lying to America and Joe Will Ignore Every Word of It

Mike Miller reporting for RedState

In May 2021, I wrote an article titled Carville, Axelrod Deliver Blunt Message to ‘Smug,’ ‘Arrogant’ Dems — They’ll Totally Ignore It, in which I said the following:

Today’s Democrat Party isn’t even the Democrat Party of former Clinton official James Carville and former Obama official David Axelrod, anymore. And no one knows that better than Carville and Axelrod, themselves — and they’re not happy about it.

“Axe” and the “Ragin’ Cajun” teed off on the Democrat Party during a joint appearance on CNN’s “Fredo Cuomo Prime Time” on Wednesday to deliver a blunt message to their party:

“Metropolitan arrogance” and “urban smugness” regrowing more and more “detrimental” to the Democrats’ future election prospects.

It was true nine months ago, and it is even truer now.

From the stubborn arrogance of CNN as it watches its ratings swirl down the toilet at a record pace — neck and neck with Joe Biden’s approval ratings — to Biden continuing to purposely wreak havoc on America — the country he swore an oath to protect and defend. Yet he continues to lie his ass off.

In other words, the headline of my May article proved to be correct.

Now a CNN senior political commentator, Axelrod said in May he believed Biden at least knew the Democrat Party was on the wrong track. He could not have been more wrong. Moreover, nine months later, Axelrod is in effect offering to Biden the same advice he gave to the party in May, and the results will be exactly the same: Biden will ignore every damn word and continue as is, full speed ahead.

In a Valentine’s Day op-ed for The New York Times, titled Mr. President, It’s Time for a Little Humility, “Axe” — one of Barack Obama’s key advisors during his 2008 campaign and confidante throughout his presidency — pretty much went bottom-line with Biden, suggesting he humble himself during his upcoming State of the Union address.

After suggesting Biden will be tempted to “herald his achievements” — and they are what, exactly? — Axelrod suggested the beleaguered president should be cautious.

Mr. President, proceed with caution. Talk about the things you and Congress have done to help meet the challenges Americans are facing, for sure. Lay out your goals for the future, absolutely. Offer realistic hope for better days ahead. We desperately need it. But recognize that we are still in the grips of national trauma.

[A “national trauma” due in large part to Biden’s mindblowing ineptitude and purposely-created crises]

Polls show that the vast majority of Americans believe we are on the wrong track, and people will have little patience for lavish claims of progress that defy their lived experiences.

Axelrod then pretty much admitted that the growing majority of voters think Biden’s presidency is an unmitigated dumpster fire.

Unsurprisingly, incidents of suicide, drug overdose deaths, and violence in our homes and on the streets have grown dramatically. Frustrations with masks, mandates, and shifting rules have deepened our political divides.

Jobs have come roaring back, raising wages. But those wage increases have been eaten up by inflation, the likes of which we have not seen in four decades. And all the while, the rich have gotten richer. [OK, he is David Axelrod, but don’t lose the larger point he’s making.]

The state of the union is stressed. To claim otherwise — to highlight the progress we have made, without fully acknowledging the hard road we have traveled and the distance we need to go — would seem off-key and out of touch.

Would seem off-key and out of touch? Ladies and gentlemen of America, the Understatement of the Day.

Axe then brought the hammer down. “Softly.”

You simply cannot jawbone Americans into believing that things are better than they feel.

“Jawbone.” Merriam-Webster: “To talk especially forcefully and persuasively.”

Axe? Question: If Joe Biden is perceived as talking forcefully and persuasively when he lies about the economy, the border crisis, Afghanistan, the oil crisis, inflation, COVID, and pretty much everything else, why are his approval ratings in the toilet?

I mean, I know you’re trying to tell your old pal to stop trying to B.S. millions of people who were over his B.S. months ago, but the old dude isn’t all that quick on the uptake anymore. Know what I mean?

Yeah, so maybe you should have said: “Joe. Stop lying to the American people. They don’t believe a damn thing you say and you’re only making things worse for yourself with your incessant lying.”

Just one problem, Axe.

Biden will ignore every single word. Regardless of how you say it
