Let’s Go Brandon and the Streisand Effect

Thanks to the hapless news media an inside joke hits the mainstream.

You can always count on the idiots in the American corporate media to pour gasoline on a fire. Before this weekend, I’d wager the only people familiar with the etymology behind the chant “Let’s Go Brandon” were those active on social media.

But not anymore.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the huffy, pearl-clutching dopes in the media, “Let’s Go Brandon!” got an enormous boost in exposure. And that is not at all what the media intended.

It’s the Streisand Effect all over again.

For those who don’t know where that term comes from, allow me to explain.

Several years ago a photographer took an aerial picture of the Malibu coastline that included Barbra Streisand’s estate. A furious Streisand sued the photographer for violating her privacy. And thanks to the lawsuit, that photo of Babs’ home got far more attention than it would have if Streisand simply kept quiet.

And the Streisand Effect was born.

Twitter and Facebook did the same thing when they banned the New York Post story about Hunter Biden’s errant laptop. By blocking links to the article and locking the Post out of their Twitter account, they inadvertently brought more attention to the story than they would have if they’d simply kept quiet.

And now the dopes in the media, driven mad over the social media popularity of “Let’s Go Brandon” are doing the same damn thing.

For the two people reading this who are unfamiliar with how “Let’s Go Brandon” came about, let me explain.

When college football season open, students in the stands began chanting “Fuck Joe Biden.” Stadium after stadium, week after week, the chant took on a life of its own. By the beginning of October, the chant went pro when fans at the NFL game between the Tennessee Titans and the New York Jets erupted in what is probably the loudest example yet:

But during the Xfinity Series NASCAR race at Talladega Speedway in early October, the NBC reporter was interviewing winner Brandon Brown when the crowd began chanting “Fuck Joe Biden.” The dopey reporter tried to pass off the profanity-laced chant as “Let’s Go Brandon” instead.

People on the right embraced it as their own making “Let’s Go Brandon” the G-rated version of the vulgar chant that began during college football games. Suddenly everybody was using. One Republican Congressman, Jeff Duncan, even showed up on the House floor wearing a “Let’s Go Brandon” mask – much to the disgust and horror of the dimwits in the media. Florida Republican Congressman Bill Posey ended a floor speech on the ridiculous “Build Back Better” bill by closing with “Let’s Go Brandon.”

Funny thing is, the dopes in the media are claiming that “Let’s Go Brandon” is a “vulgar chant.”

Really?

Now the original chant was vulgar. But “Let’s Go Brandon” is the most G-rated thing ever. And, see, that’s why it bugs them so much.

“Let’s Go Brandon” is full of that lighthearted joie de vivre that makes humorless Leftists lose their minds. They just hate it when other people are enjoying themselves. But because the expression is so non-threatening, they are ten thousand times more threatened by it than they were by “Fuck Joe Biden.”

One reporter claimed the pilot on her Southwest flight said “Let’s Go Brandon” over the intercom. She was so disturbed by it, she attempted to breach the cockpit to get a “comment” from him.

Media outlets picked up her story and spread it far and wide. And in their attempt to raise the alarm over such an innocuous chant, they only gave “Let’s Go Brandon” even more exposure.

And when I say they’re losing their minds, I mean, they are totally losing their minds. Like this CNN dope:

Okay, honey. Whatever you say.

Then yesterday, MSNBC’s Ken Dilanian reported that he contacted the US Secret Service to report a gun store that was selling weapon parts emblazoned with both “Let’s Go Brandon” and “Fuck Joe Biden.”

CNN’s Jim Sciutto tweeted on Monday “Think about the lesson is (sic) the ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ crowd is teaching their children.”

Well, if I were to hazard a guess, I’d say they’re teaching their children that it is possible to express opposition to Joe Biden without resorting to profanity – something the ResistanceLOL could never do when it came to Donald Trump.

For four years the same media that is taking to the fainting couches over “Let’s Go Brandon” clapped like meth-addled seals whenever a celebrity or politician yelled “Fuck Donald Trump!” They reacted with orgasmic delight when the odious Rashida Tlaib began her tenure in Congress by vowing to “impeach the motherfucker.”

You’ll forgive me for laughing at their case of the vapors over “Let’s Go Brandon.”

As conservative columnist Stephen L. Miller pointed out Twitter over the weekend:

“Let’s go Brandon” is a clear *CLEAR* deescalation in the rhetoric. It’s not vulgar. It’s not offensive. It’s funny. And people who claim to not be invested in the escalation of this kind of rhetoric are STILL offended. How enlightening this has all been.

I’d bet money that a significant percentage of the population never even heard of “Let’s Go Brandon” before the media went insane over it. And the ones who heard it probably had no idea what it means.

When the meme first got going last month, one of the people I follow on Twitter suggested that abandoning the more vulgar “Fuck Joe Biden” in favor of this G-rated alternative would be a mistake because, at that point, it was nothing but an inside joke among social media conservatives.

At the time, I agreed with him. But not anymore.

Thanks to the accidentally helpful news media, “Let’s Go Brandon” is now baked into our collective consciousness, and there’s no stopping it.

Great work, guys!
