12 years ago, the best NCIS show first aired

 

It's been 12 years since we met these 2!

Today is an important day for NCIS LA fans, today marks 12 years since the very first episode of the show aired!

Yup, 12 years since we first met Hetty, Callen, Sam, Kensi and Eric. (Deeks didn't show up until later in Season 1).

I first started watching this show back in 2014 with Season 6, didn't expect to like it as much as I have, but despite the nightmares of the last 3 Seasons, this is still my favorite show.

This show has been through quite a lot. Only 5 cast departures in it's soon to be 13 Seasons (which is pretty amazing considering most other shows usually go through more), Series regular list has gone from just 6 to now 8, the most popular couple is still together, another couple might be making a big move in Season 13, and another might just be blooming.

The show has also amassed a big fandom following on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr (though, Tumblr's side is much smaller, and was a bit toxic a few years ago), there's thousands of fanfics spread out on Fanfiction.Net and Archive of our Own.

The episodes themselves have differed from very memorable, to iconic, to funny, and to forgettable.

The producers have had to deal with a pregnant actress twice, to another actor dying, to it's beating heart and soul being involved in a bad wreck a week before filming on it's 10th Season was supposed to start and having to cover for her for 2 years.

I've rewatched a lot of these episodes a few times over the years, Seasons 1-8 are incredible, Season 9 is, debateable, Seasons 10-12 have a lot of issues and only a few memorable episodes.

I've seen quite a few cop shows throughout my life, and this is the best 1. The cast gels perfectly with each other, there's plenty of great humor, intensity, a family vibe, memorable lines. What's better then all of that?
