The Kooky Progressive Religion and Collective Guilt

For adherents of the Kooky Progressive Religion, groveling for forgiveness over sins you did not commit makes all the sense in the world. But for those of us who are not steeped in the culture of collective guilt, this kind of behavior is just, well, kooky.

We used to be a culture that embraced the notion of the Individual.  Individual Liberty and personal responsibility were accepted norm. But that was before the Kooky Progressive Religion of collectivism seeped into our country.

In the Progressive Religion, there are no individuals; there are only Identity Groups.  Therefore if someone within your identity group kills an unarmed black man in police custody, everyone in your identity group is guilty of this sin.

And you must all atone.

You know, in the Middle Ages, it was not uncommon for devout Catholics to practice self-flagellation – specifically whipping oneself as an act of atonement for one’s sins.

In the kooky Progressive Religion, you must flagellate not for your sins, but for the sins of your collective identity group.

Nobody is spared.

You might be a kind, generous person who treats your fellow man with kindness and charity no matter who they are or what color their skin.

But that’s a lie!  You are guilty because you exist in a culture of systemic racism! You have profited from this “institutional racism” and therefore you are a racist!

So kneel!  Kneel!  Get down on your knees and beg for forgiveness for your White Privilege!

For adherents of the Kooky Progressive Religion, groveling for forgiveness over sins you did not commit makes all the sense in the world. But for those of us who are not steeped in the culture of collective guilt, this kind of behavior is just, well, kooky.

Look at these people:

Look at these misguided clowns:

“Such a beautiful moment.” Yeah, no, it isn’t. It is sad and pathetic.
Look at this poor kid:

Look at this foolish old man:

You are not the “marginalized” if you can force people to grovel before your feet and collectively beg you for absolution over sins they didn’t commit.  You’re manipulative as hell, but you aren’t marginalized.

As Jesse Kelly put it yesterday after Major League Baseball sent out a groveling statement itemizing their self-imposed acts of contrition:

A few years ago, I did an interview with Matt Locke and we were discussing the modern campus culture of victimhood and identity politics.  Matt suggested that these college snowflakes were going to have a shock when they entered the real world.

But I disagreed.  I told him that what is happening today is this poisonous campus culture is bleeding out into the real world.  College graduates aren’t leaving it behind; instead they are bringing it with them like an infectious disease and spreading it throughout the population.

I think this latest freakout from the Kooky Progressive Religion kind of proves me right, wouldn’t you say?

When “science” has become nothing but an article of faith for politicians and so-called “experts,” it isn’t just on college campuses anymore.

When a nominee for President is groveling on his knees to signal his virtue, it isn’t just people on college campuses that behave like nuts.

When the Attorney General of Massachusetts is sending out insane statements like this, this insanity is no longer cloistered within the ivy-covered walls of our “institutions of higher learning.”

And here’s the amazing part.

The Kooky Progressive Religion embraces a gospel story that is utterly false.

According to their gospel, racist police are systematically targeting and murdering black men.

But look at this graph.

Statistic: Number of people shot to death by the police in the United States from 2017 to 2020, by race | Statista

The numbers don’t match up to the gospel, do they?

As Matt Walsh put it yesterday at the Daily Wire:

The real question is whether a black person is significantly more likely to be unjustly killed in an interaction with police than a white person. The answer would appear to be no. As it was recently put, three black people are killed for every 10,000 arrested for violent crime. Among whites arrested for violent crime, the figure is 4 in 10,000. Framed this way, it is hard to support the claim of a racist police epidemic.

Likewise it seems relevant that white cops are not more likely to shoot black suspects. This stat comports with the fact that many high-profile police killings (Baltimore, for example) have happened in black-run cities, with black mayors and black police chiefs and many black officers. If racism lies at the root of police brutality, and if black men are indeed being hunted, then we should observe a lot more brutality and “hunting” in departments and cities with more white cops and more white leadership. But that is not what we observe.

Tucker Carlson tackled this very thing last night on his show:

In other words, these people are getting to their knees and groveling for forgiveness over a lie.

Over this lie, American cities are being burned to the ground while the American “news” media cheers.

Over this lie American corporations are groveling for forgiveness in hopes that they will not be destroyed by the adherents of the Kooky Progressive Religion.

Over this lie politicians on both sides of the aisle are bending a knee and begging for atonement.

We Americans are supposed to surrender our Individuality for a lie.

The one person responsible for George Floyd’s death is in jail awaiting trial for second degree murder.

And yet this isn’t enough for the Kooky Progressive Religion.  We must all pay the price for one man’s actions because there is no such thing as personal responsibility, only collective guilt.

Sorry, no sale.

I am not a subject or a serf.  I am not an identity group or a race.  I am an individual.  I am an American.  And I will not grovel or bend a knee to anyone.

You cannot shame me.  You cannot force me to my knees.

I will not seek atonement for sins I did not commit.

And for the sins I do commit, there is only one place I go to seek forgiveness, and that is to God and God alone.
