Schumer's New Portal to 'Expose Corruption, Abuses of Power, and Threats' Backfires Big Time
As RedState reported earlier, Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Monday debuted an online portal that he says will help Senate Democrats track alleged "corruption, abuses of power, and threats to public safety" from public officials.
The portal is in response to the Elon Musk-led DOGE's ongoing assessments of the waste, fraud, and abuse taking place at federal departments including USAID, FEMA, and others. These are actions Schumer and other unhinged Democrats have claimed amount to a "coup" allegedly being orchestrated by an "unelected" person despite the fact that DOGE is carrying out an executive order issued by President Donald Trump.
Unfortunately for Schumer, his announcement backfired almost immediately, with irate conservatives taking it upon themselves to use the portal in order to report Democrats... including Schumer himself:
"I'd like to report Maxine Waters for inciting violence against political opposition," suggested another Twitter/X user.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) also got in on the action, tweeting:
"Great! I wanna report:
Joe Biden
Kamala Harris
Chuck SchumerAnd the entire corrupt Democrat party that weaponized & abused the federal government for the past four years."
There was also this which, let's face it, might be the worst crime of them all:
Regarding Hemingway reporting Schumer's notorious March 2020 threat to conservative Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch during a pro-abortion rally, I should note that Schumer was put on notice in January under acting US attorney for DC Ed Martin, who said in a "letter of inquiry" that they needed clarification on Schumer's statement because "We take threats against public officials very seriously. I look forward to your cooperation."
"The investigation of Schumer will achieve nothing beyond fulfilling the narrative of the left that Trump is going to weaponize the criminal justice system against his opponents," Turley observed. "It is more likely to delight than deter Chuck Schumer."
While he's probably right, dang if the idea isn't tempting after the last nine years of what Democrats and the media have put Trump and his allies through.
