BREAKING: Pope Francis cancels meetings over breathing difficulties
The Vatican reported
Monday morning that Pope Francis has canceled a series of meetings due
to lung inflammation and breathing difficulties. It has since been
reported he has a "mild flu."
The Pope turns 87 next month. A CT scan ruled out pneumonia, according
to director of the Vatican press office Matteo Bruni. Doctors have
however administered antibiotics to Francis via a cannula.
“The Holy Father’s audiences scheduled for this morning are canceled due to a mild flu,” the Holy See Press Office said.
Bruni added in his emailed statement that: "The Pope’s condition is good
and stationary, he has no fever and his respiratory situation is
clearly improving."
Francis, with the aid of Father Paolo Braida, made his Sunday address sounding short of breath and coughing.
"Dear brothers and sisters. Happy Sunday. Today, I cannot appear at the
window because I have this problem of an inflammation in the lungs," he
said.
