Fauci Won't Go Away, Pushes Masks Despite Major Study Showing They're Ineffective
On Saturday, he with Michael Smerconish to remind us of his love for masks, even though a major February —which is by the National Institutes of Health (NIH)—showed that wearing them was effectively useless in stopping the virus. "There’s still no evidence that masks are effective during a pandemic. Full stop," said the study’s lead author.
Not to mention that then-White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha said in December 2022, "There is no study in the world that shows that masks work that well." Meanwhile, here’s a story I reported on just last week: Nothing to See Here: Study Shows N95 Masks May Expose You to 'Toxic Volatile Organic Compounds.'
But none of that matters to Fauci—Mister "I am the Science"—who told Smerconish:
“I am concerned that people will not abide by recommendations,” he said. “I would hope that if we get to the point that the volume of cases is such and organizations like the CDC recommends — CDC does not mandate anything — recommends that people wear masks, I would hope that people abide by that recommendation and take into account the risks to themselves and their families.”
Notice how he always tries to avoid responsibility for his actions by pointing out that the CDC doesn’t actually "mandate anything." What he doesn’t mention, however, is that many public health authorities around the nation accept the CDC’s recommendations without question, so if the agency recommends masks, there will likely be widespread mask mandates again. Meanwhile, to leftists and to the corrupt mainstream media, Fauci is a saint-like figure who is revered like a cult leader, so if he recommends something, expect blue state governors and health officials to quickly comply.
Watch:
When confronted with the findings of the Cochrane Library study, however, the good doctor sounded less self-assured:
“When you’re talking about the effect on the epidemic or the pandemic as a whole, the data are less strong,” he admitted.
“But there are other studies, Michael, that show at an individual level, for individuals,” they might be protective, he said.
I'm not even sure what that means, to be honest. Do masks work, Dr. Fauci, or do they not? The answer appears to be "no," so why even consider forcing hundreds of millions of Americans to wear them again without better scientific data? Because they might be protective?
We've been told ad nauseam how we are supposed to "follow the science," yet those in power seem to ignore it whenever it suits their desires.
It is true that COVID numbers are rising lately, but not nearly as drastically as you’d think if you paid attention to the hysterical headlines of our lamestream media. Already, the COVID-obsessed New York Times is pulling out last year's trope, "Do you want to see your grandpa? Do you want to hang out with your grandma? Are you really sure you’re not going to give Covid to them?"
Yes, they actually printed that Friday.
Children were harmed to an almost unfathomable degree by the response to the pandemic, even though they're at almost no risk from the Wuhan Flu. Yet the Times is back at shaming and guilt-tripping our nation's youth.
Reprehensible.
Even the fanatics at CNN had to admit that "key metrics remain well below most other points in the pandemic." Nevertheless, you can almost feel the breathless anticipation of authoritarians like mask-obsessed LA County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer, who kept the almost ten million residents under her purview masked up longer than virtually anyone else in the country and kept schools closed as long as she possibly could. These people are salivating at their chance to wield their power again.
COVID is certainly a serious issue, and there were many deaths attributed to the nasty disease—especially early on before it mutated into less harmful versions such as Omicron. But for many Americans, the official response from states and the federal government was far more harmful to themselves and to their families than the actual virus. The learning loss among young people is almost catastrophic, and we will be feeling the effects for years; meanwhile, an untold number of people lost their jobs and their businesses due to draconian mask and vaccine mandates.
Fauci, who early on in the pandemic assured Americans that masks were unnecessary, has lost all credibility. As the Branch Covidians try to ramp up the hysteria, we should not be listening to him or his ilk.
