In Shocking Development, IRS Removes Team Investigating Hunter Biden After DOJ Request
A new report is circling Monday evening, claiming that the “entire investigative team” at the IRS that was pursuing the Hunter Biden case has been removed. That removal allegedly came at the direct request of the DOJ and was done in a “retaliatory” fashion.
That news comes via Sean Davis of The Federalist and has been further reported by Fox News and The New York Post. According to Davis, a whistleblower took the information about the removals to Congress.
The IRS has removed the “entire investigative team” from its multi-year tax fraud investigation of Hunter Biden, and a whistleblower who raised concerns about the handling of the case is claiming the move was “clearly retaliatory,” according to a Monday report.

“Today the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Criminal Supervisory Special Agent we represent was informed that he and his entire investigative team are being removed from the ongoing and sensitive investigation of the high-profile, controversial subject about which our client sought to make whistleblower disclosures to Congress.
If this is true, and there’s no reason to think the whistleblower is lying, it’s a stunning development that further escalates the scandal surrounding the government’s treatment of the Hunter Biden investigation. Namely, the DOJ appears to be trying to scuttle the investigation into Hunter Biden just as things are about to blow wide open. If the IRS whistleblower really has the goods, it would make sense that the DOJ would want to staunch his access to further information.
Would the DOJ really do something that blatant? Would they retaliate against a whistleblower in what amounts to broad daylight? That seems brazen even for the current politically compromised DOJ. AG Merrick Garland usually tries to at least hide things a little better, and certainly, there would have been no expectation they could keep this move secret.
Still, there is one explanation that would be less disturbing, which is that the DOJ is getting ready to charge Hunter Biden and no longer needs the IRS investigation to continue because the evidence is already in hand. I would hope that is the case, for the sake of all American governmental institutions, given the current, justified lack of trust. A recent report did reveal that a charging decision regarding the Hunter Biden case is approaching.
With that said, my faith in the DOJ to do anything by the book at this point is at an all-time low. Until I see Hunter Biden charged and arraigned, the cynic in me is going to fear the worst. I think that’s where a lot of people are at this point.
