On Saturday, Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, wrote a letter requesting the visitor logs for President Joe Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware residence. Biden’s residence is the location where several classified documents were discovered, as revealed in a Thursday statement by the President’s Special Counsel.

Some documents were stored in the garage and at least one other in an adjacent room. The Biden home is a second location – the first set of documents was found at the offices of a think tank, the Penn Biden Center, on November 2, 2022, although the American public wasn’t aware of the scandal until January 2023.

Comer’s letter, addressed to Biden Chief of Staff Ron Klain, raises questions surrounding who may have had access to the sensitive materials. Comer wrote:

It is troubling that classified documents have been improperly stored at the home of President Biden for at least six years, raising questions about who may have reviewed or had access to classified information.

Comer has been candid about the Oversight Committee’s top priority investigation into Biden’s mishandling of the documents, saying that he was prepared to issue subpoenas to the National Archives if they didn’t comply with similar requests, seeking internal communications about the records between the Archives, the White House, the Justice Department, and the President’s attorneys.

The Oversight Committee chairman also raises concern over the Biden aides and lawyers who do not have security clearances as they appear to be continuing to search for and access the restricted documents. Comer wrote:

Additionally, President Biden’s personal attorneys, who do not possess security clearances, and White House staff continue to access and search the President’s residence in Wilmington, Delaware for classified documents.

In addition to the visitor log, the letter requests all communications regarding searches and the identities of aides involved in those searches, writing,

All documents and communications related to the searches of President Biden’s home(s) and other locations by Biden aides for classified documents—including but not limited to the dates of the searches and identity of the aides;

Comer has given Klain until January 30, 2023, to comply with the request.
