If There Isn't a Deep State, Why Does the Deep State Keep Acting Like a Deep State?
Boy, there sure seems like there's a deep state in Washington, DC, determined to use its political power to reward one part of the political elite and punish the other.
Oh, I know, I know. It's conspiracy theory stuff to suggest there's even a Deep State. But maybe the Deep State should stop doing Deep State things if it's trying to convince us that there isn't a Deep State.
The latest example of all the Deep State Deep State-iness is the arrest of former FBI counterintelligence chief from the Southern District of New York, Charles McGonigal, on charges that he violated US sanctions against a Russian oligarch named Oleg Deripaska.
Now, this on its face is bad enough, but when you peel back the Deep State Deep State-iness of all of this, you learn that this guy played a key role in Operation Crossfire Hurricane.
Of course, Operation Crossfire Hurricane was the FBI counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign for so-called Russian collusion during the 2016 presidential election. That then led to the FBI counterintelligence investigation of the Trump administration, which then, of course, led to the Robert Mueller special counsel investigation. All to root out Trump's criminal collusion and coordination with the Russian government to basically take over the White House.
The key piece of evidence used to justify all of these investigations of Trump and (even to trigger super secret FISA spying warrants on innocent American citizens like Carter Page) was the so-called Steele Dossier. A collection of documents formulated by former MI6 agent Christopher Steele, which purported to show direct connections between participants in the Trump campaign and Trump White House with Vladimir Putin, the Russian government, and Russian oligarchs.
Of course, any observer of the Deep State Deep Staters now knows that the entire Russian collusion narrative was a hoax. And the Steele dossier was a fictional piece of opposition research paid for by Hillary Clinton's doomed presidential campaign.
And if you've really been following along, you know that one of the key sources for the Steele dossier was none other than Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska. That's right, the exact same oligarch that this FBI counterintelligence agent has now been arrested in connection with.
You know how conservatives are often seen wandering in the wilderness, screaming at the top of their lungs to anyone who will listen that the left always accuses us of doing exactly what they are doing?
For example, how the left always calls conservatives racist while giving people the Margaret Sanger lifetime achievement award, named after a woman whose main goal was to shut down the black race by using the cozy new euphemism for infanticide known as Planned Parenthood?
Yeah, that's what I mean. They call us racist while they celebrate killing black babies.
Well, here's another great shining example. They accused Donald Trump of Russian collusion. That was a hoax. They accuse anyone who supports Donald Trump of doing Vladimir Putin's heavy lifting. They accuse any journalistic endeavor that points to the very real and true Hunter Biden laptop scandal as playing along with Russian propaganda and disinformation. They accuse the entire Republican Party of merely being a wing of Putin and the Russian government and Russian oligarchs.
And now, here we find that one of the chief investigators of the entire Russian collusion hoax has actually been colluding with a Russian oligarch.
This story, of course, comes just a couple of weeks after learning that James Baker, one of the lead attorneys at the Justice Department during the Russian collusion hoax investigation, left the agency to go work for Twitter and became one of the top voices at that social media giant responsible for the censorship of the aforementioned Hunter Biden laptop story. He participated in direct censorship of a legitimate news story and the suspension of individuals' social media accounts because he assured the leadership of Twitter and anyone else who would listen to his sage, reasonable and experienced voice that the Hunter Biden laptop story had to be Russian disinformation. It couldn't be true!
James Baker was working for the DOJ, in the FBI, investigating Donald Trump on the grounds of Russian collusion, and then the next day, he's working for Twitter, silencing the New York Post reporting a legitimate news story because he claimed it was Russian disinformation.
But no, there's no Deep State. None at all.
I mean, if there were a Deep State, it'd be much, much better off not acting like such a Deep State.
