The British Army
has sent a new elite infantry regiment and a platoon of drone operators
to the Mojave Desert to engage in a US war games maneuver that simulates
the Russian invasion of Europe.
About 450 British
soldiers were flown to California for two weeks of training at a US
military base of about 1,000 square miles. Among those who took part in
the exercises, called Project Convergence, were the Rangers, an elite
regiment in the British Army formed last year.
British, American
and Australian forces tested new fighting techniques as they learned
lessons from the war in Ukraine, training in the open desert landscapes
that resemble the flat terrain of the Ukrainian steppes.
