NBC News Reporter Suffers Freak-out About 'Heat Wave,' Blames 'Climate Change' on Joe Manchin
When West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin, last Thursday, pulled the plug on critical negotiations with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer over a last-ditch effort to save key parts of embattled Joe Biden’s midterm election-year agenda — most notably, “climate” and “tax” packages — you knew it was only a matter of time before the long knives would again come calling for the moderate Democrat.
Then there’s NBC’s Lester Holt, who on Monday moved from the ridiculous to the absurd. After spending the first five minutes of the broadcast whining about a heat wave in the middle of July — AKA: “climate change” — Holt turned to correspondent Anne Thompson, who picked up the “global warming” ball and ran with it, blaming the seasonably hot weather on Manchin for blocking Biden’s climate change agenda.
Here’s how the whine-fest went down, as transcribed by NewsBusters, with Holt ignorantly whining to Thompson: “This severe weather certainly underscoring the increasing role of climate change and the challenges America faces in trying to combat it.”
Thompson dutifully followed form like a trained seal:
As the nation swelters through this heat wave, any immediate climate action is on the ropes after two stinging defeats. Democratic Senator Joe Manchin from coal-rich West Virginia today defending his decision to block President Biden’s climate legislation including tax incentives for wind and solar power and electric vehicles.
Incidentally, I had to read Thompson’s response a couple of times to make sure I didn’t miss any of the usual Democrat talking points, which I counted at seven.
“Add to that the Supreme Court limiting the EPA’s ability to regulate carbon emissions from power plants,” Thompson continued, moaning, “the nation’s second-largest source of the gases driving climate change. Oops — five more, for a final tally of 12. Impressive.
Thompson then trotted out Dan Lashof of the leftist World Resources Institute for even more whining about Manchin blocking Biden’s climate, asking him what impact Manchin blocking Biden, and SCOTUS limiting the EPA’s overstep in the regulation of carbon emissions, would have.
“What did those two developments do to President Biden’s climate agenda?” Thompson asked, to which, Lashof dutifully replied: “Well, there’s no sugarcoating it. They’re major setbacks.”
As the whine-fest continued, Thompson continued journalisming her leftist heart out, shilling for Biden and his disastrous policies like a champ:
Biden hoped to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030. Polls show a majority of Americans, 65 percent are worried about global warming, but only one percent of voters say climate change is the top issue facing the country. Among voters under 30 that number rises only to three percent.
Climate change always seems to be the issue that we can put off until tomorrow. Are we at the point that we can no longer put off acting on climate change?
[…]
President Biden is promising executive action, but climate activists believe without Congress acting to speed up wind and solar installations and electric vehicle purchases, it won’t be enough.
The bottom line:
So, why are a majority of Americans “worried about global warming”? Assuming, a: the polls are correct, and, b: the question isn’t phrased in such a way that scares the hell out of them, that is.
Because the Democrat Party and its sock-puppet media incessantly continue the ominous “existential threat to mankind” crock of crap. What did Joeseph Goebbels say?
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it”? Yeah, that.
