Russian Negotiator Brags About What Iran Got in New Deal as Biden Sells Us Down River Again
I’m not sure anyone could have done worse than Joe Biden has done in office so far.
I wrote the other day that Biden was very close to a decision in a new Iran deal that, by reports, was a reprehensible deal that could put our safety at risk. We also reported how former State Department official Gabriel Noronha was warning about what was to come in the deal to see if Congress could stop what he called the “capitulation.” Noronha said the deal was “much, much worse than the original.” He said three top diplomats had quit over what the Biden Administration negotiator Robert Malley was doing, that these were career staff or Biden appointees, so that tells you how awful it must be.
Noronha, who worked on Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s Iran Action Group said:
Multiple career officials view these capitulations as so detrimental to U.S. national security that they contacted me requesting that I rapidly share details of these concessions with Congress and the public in an effort to stop them. [….]
But this much is clear to me: The deal being negotiated in Vienna is dangerous to U.S. national security, to the stability of the Middle East, and to the Iranian people who suffer most under that brutal regime. The lack of evidence to justify a removal of U.S. sanctions is illegal, and the deal that will be foisted upon the world without the support of Congress will be illegitimate. This deal will not serve U.S. interests in either the short or long term.
A lot of the sanctions on some of the “worst terrorists and torturers” and the IRGC are going to be lifted, according to Noronha. So not only will Iran have a path to a nuclear weapon but they’ll have everything they want, all courtesy of Joe Biden.
Now there’s more indication of just how bad that might be. As we noted, while Biden is claiming they’re cutting the Russians off, the Russians and the Chinese are both involved in the new Iran Deal. The Russian negotiator involved, Mikhail Ulyanov, is now saying that Tehran got much more than anyone expected in the new deal.
“Iranian colleagues are fighting for [their] national interest like lions,” Russian diplomat Mikhail Ulyanov said in a video interview posted online by Polaris NatSec. “They fight for every comma, every word, and as a rule, quite successfully.” [….]
In the video, Ulyanov praised the Chinese over their role in the negotiations and said they worked well with Russia during the talks.
“I am absolutely sincere in this regard when I say that Iran got much more than it could expect,” he said. “Our Chinese friends were also very efficient and useful as co-negotiators.”
“I can recollect dozens of such cases when on rather serious, significant questions, we managed together to get positive results close to what we wanted to achieve,” he added.
One would expect that Ulyanov might want to push propaganda after the deal. But he’s so assured they’ve aced everything, he’s bragging about it before the deal is even agreed to. Unfortunately, what he’s saying also tailors with what Noronha was warning about — that the Iranians are getting everything they want. Are they also getting more pallets of cash? They are effectively getting a lot of cash to keep the mullahs in power if they get what they primarily want — the lifting of sanctions.
Meanwhile, the world is so focused on Ukraine that Biden may just slip this by everyone if Congress doesn’t call this out and do all they can against it.
