Biden Lied About Testing and Rejected Plan to Surge COVID Tests
During his interview with David Muir last night, Joe Biden said that he wished he thought of ordering more tests. He said no one had anticipated Omicron, so no one anticipated the need.
As we’ve said, that’s nonsense as he should have known for months that there would be variants, and that he even said back last December that testing should be ramped up. He attacked President Donald Trump for not having more ramped-up testing at that point.
But it gets worse, if you go back and look at what he has previously said and promised about testing, as well as the options that he had and didn’t take.
Here’s a breakdown of all his remarks on testing, where he talks about the importance of increasing the tests and what they’re going to do to increase testing, including saying in March that they’re working on making home testing available to people. Then on Sept. 9, he says he’s going to use the Defense Production Act to increase the production of at-home tests and will have 300 million tests available so that people can have them.
So, he had already promised 300 million tests three months ago. What happened to that? Now, he’s saying he wished he had thought about having 500 million. How bizarre is this? And does he not even remember what he says from one minute to the next?
But it gets worse.
Biden was warned in October that he should ramp up the tests to help mitigate the holiday surge of COVID, according to a Vanity Fair report.
The 10-page plan, which Vanity Fair has obtained, would enable the U.S. to finally do what many other countries had already done: Put rapid at-home COVID-19 testing into the hands of average citizens, allowing them to screen themselves in real time and thereby help reduce transmission. The plan called for an estimated 732 million tests per month, a number that would require a major ramp-up of manufacturing capacity. It also recommended, right on the first page, a nationwide “Testing Surge to Prevent Holiday COVID Surge.”
Of course, people had anticipated it; they even gave him a plan to address it that would have provided the tests to avoid the long lines people are now facing in trying to get tests. But he rejected it, apparently saying they didn’t have the capacity. Imagine if President Donald Trump had said that — we never would have had the private/public partnership that produced the vaccines. Biden never told David Muir he’d been offered a plan, when he said he “wished” that he had thought of surging testing before.
But as we said, even the promise that they made over the last couple of days isn’t even real yet. They didn’t even have a contract yet to acquire the test kits. So we’re talking about weeks into January and maybe February in terms of availability, well past the holidays and perhaps even past any winter surge of the virus.
This wasn’t a Fox reporter asking that question — even the liberal media reporters are now pushing these questions because it’s affecting everyone and even they can’t justify it.
This isn’t just about lying to embellish himself or making up stories about being a truck driver here. That would be crazy enough. This is about him not even knowing what he’s doing from one minute to the next, and not looking out for the best interests of the country. That’s endangering us all.
