Just how panicked and desperate is the McAuliffe campaign?
Well, they’re panicked enough to enlist the help of the odious Lincoln Project. And that tells you all you need to know about how bad things are going for them.
Yesterday morning I saw the tweet about the supposed “white supremacists” who turned up to a Glenn Youngkin event carrying tiki torches, and I knew just by looking at it that it was a Democrat stunt.
I mean, come on!
Do they look like white supremacists to you?
How many black white supremacists have you seen?
No campaign confident in pending victory would pull a stunt this transparently stupid.
It didn’t take long before Team McAuliffe piled on, retweeting outrage over Youngkin’s apparent ties to the Charlottesville Tiki Torch idiots. One dope of a campaign staffer, a certain Jen Goodman, quote-tweeted that tweet with “This is disgusting and disqualifying.”
Yes, Jen. Only, not for Glenn Youngkin. It’s disgusting and disqualifying for your boss.
It’s also panicked and desperate.
Another McAuliffe campaign flack quote tweeted it as well, adding “The Unite the Right rally was one of the darkest days in the Commonwealth’s history. this is who Glenn Youngkin’s supporters are”
Sweet merciful Zeus. These people must think voters are idiots to fall for this bullshit.
Speaking of idiots. Guess who did fall for it?
MSNBC’s Glenn Kirschner fell for the stunt as well – tweeting his fury over “the blatant display of racism, hatred and intolerance” of the tiki torch-holding goobers, and urging Virginians to vote for McAuliffe.
Now, you’ll notice that I’m not including the tweets. And there’s a reason for that. After investigative reporter Adam Sears began digging into the stunt and discovered that those tiki torch-holding clowns were all with the Virginia Democrat Party, everybody who either A) knew it was a lie or B) fell for the lie because they’re all idiots, started deleting their tweets.
Except Eric Swalwell. Even after the McAuliffe campaign staffer he quote-tweeted deleted his tweet, Eric’s tweet remains up on his timeline. No wonder the Chinese pegged him for a useful idiot.
The VA Democrat Party staffers in the picture quickly locked their Twitter accounts to hide from the blowback.
Then, by evening, the clowns from the Lincoln Project released a statement claiming credit for the stunt. You know, like they were ISIS claiming credit for a bombing. Which, when you think about it, makes sense. This stunt blew up all right — right in the McAuliffe campaign’s face.
Now, the McAuliffe campaign feigned ignorance of the whole thing. But nobody believes them.
As Sean Davis, co-founder of the Federalist, pointed out last night on Twitter, the McAuliffe campaign received $279,000 in campaign assistance from the Lincoln Project. Obviously the Virginia Democrat Party was involved. How else do you explain the fact that the tiki torch cosplayers all work for them?
What’s more, as Glenn Greenwald tweeted last night, the biggest donor to the Lincoln Project (not counting leftist billionaires) is the Democrat Party PAC “Majority Forward.”
Unless the Virginia Democrat Party kept it hidden from the McAuliffe campaign (highly unlikely), Team McAuliffe was in on the stunt. This is precisely why members of his campaign team were so quick to retweet that stupid picture.
That’s how panicked and desperate these idiots are.
Can you blame them?
The day before this gigantic fuck up happened, a Fox News poll showed Glenn Youngkin eight points ahead of McAuliffe.
This is supposed to be an easy win for the Democrats. It’s Virginia after all. Biden won the state by nearly ten points and the Democrats have held the governor’s mansion since 2013.
Instead, Terry McAuliffe is flailing on the campaign trail while crapping all over a prime voting bloc – namely parents. And all he has by way of a counter-argument against Youngkin is smearing him as a racist.
McAuliffe is panicked and desperate. So much so he let the clowns from the Lincoln Project concoct the most ham-handed, sophomoric, amateurish stunt ever.
Now, will Youngkin win on Tuesday?
That’s hard to say.
As the brilliant Dave Reaboi explained in his latest substack column “Virginia and the Horse-Races of Beltway Elections:”
I have many friends in politics who are following the Virginia race. All attest to the high level of GOP enthusiasm, but I don’t know anyone who trusts the outcome will be fair and without massive fraud.
For this reason, despite the polls, I think it’s safe to assume that McAullife will prevail (somehow, wink-wink). In a way, he must. For Democrats, this race is about a lot more than just the state of Virginia; if they fail to take this race, they’re afraid of the heightning expectations for a “red wave” election in 2022.

But if Terry McAuliffe shares Dave’s view that, in the end, he’ll win this, why the hell is the McAuliffe campaign so panicked and desperate?
