Joe Biden’s Freelance Stasi
Welcome to the police state, everybody. According to CNN, the Biden Administration is looking to set up a Freelance Stasi – specifically “using outside firms to track extremist chatter by Americans online.”
So technically, it won’t be a police state since the state isn’t the one doing it. Instead, the state is outsourcing the police state to others.
And here we thought the PATRIOT Act was bad.

The Department of Homeland Security is limited in how it can monitor citizens online without justification and is banned from activities like assuming false identities to gain access to private messaging apps used by extremist groups such as the Proud Boys or Oath Keepers.
Instead, federal authorities can only browse through unprotected information on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook and other open online platforms.
The plan being discussed inside DHS, according to multiple sources, would, in effect, allow the department to circumvent those limits. A source familiar with the effort said it is not about decrypting data but rather using outside entities who can legally access these private groups to gather large amounts of information that could help DHS identify key narratives as they emerge.
By partnering with research firms who have more visibility in this space, the DHS could produce information that would likely be beneficial to both it and the FBI, which can’t monitor US citizens in this way without first getting a warrant or having the pretext of an ongoing investigation. Since the government can’t legally act like the secret police, they will employ a freelance Stasi to act as secret police on their behalf so they can target people without due process.
But Trump was a fascist.
Saturday, I read a thread on Twitter about the Obama Administration’s involvement in the overthrow of Gaddafi and the destruction of Libya. While the whole thread is worth reading, it was the end of the thread that really struck me.

What will the Land of the Free look like at the end of this?
The fact that the Biden Administration is considering the use of a Freelance Stasi to bypass the law and spy on American citizens tells me the end of this will look very, very bad.
And yet, all those people who spent four years pretending they were “Resisting” a fascist won’t have a single problem with this. In fact, many of them are probably cheering it on.
What I want to know is will any of the Republicans in Congress raise holy hell about this? I mean other than Tom Massie or Rand Paul, will any of those guys sound the alarm?
Will Mitt Romney stop whining about being booed long enough to give a damn?
I’m livid about this. Absolutely livid.
