Conservative Women Know How To Get Bleep Done
On Monday’s episode of “The Five,” Fox News host Dana Perino had her co-hosts dying of laughter after she accidentally swore on live television. While Perino’s on-air blooper is sure to make you chuckle, her sentiment couldn’t have been truer.
The moment came during a segment on Joe Biden’s Cabinet picks and his incoming all-female communications team. Perino, who was President George W. Bush’s press secretary, was discussing how conservative women often find themselves getting the short end of the stick on receiving recognition for their achievements.
“If you [Democratic administrations] think you want to get a quick hit in the media, you know exactly how to do it,” Perino said. “Conservative administrations typically don’t do that. And also, as a conservative woman, you know you’re not going to get the glowing profile, so you just get your sh-t done.”
Perino is spot on and then some. Conservative women have been getting their “shit done” for decades, with no recognition. The war on conservative women is nothing new, as women who identify as Republicans, Trump supporters, or pro-lifers are routinely ostracized by leftists in Hollywood, the media, and the government.
To the modern left, women who don’t check the boxes of Democrat, feminist, or pro-abortion are immediately stripped of their woman card and accused of being anti-women. For a party that consistently claims to be the “party of women,” Democrats in these institutions have continued to use their positions to degrade conservative women or ignore their successes.
In her book, “Assault and Flattery: The Truth About the Left and Their War on Women,” Katie Pavlich details this strategy, noting how the “true war” enacted by the left is one “waged to make all women subscribe to certain social behavior, involving complete sexual ‘liberation’ and ‘independence,’ and a war waged to convince women that the Democratic Party is the party that will give them everything they need to achieve that narrow-minded view on life — if they pledge their political allegiance.”
Despite all the crap they get, conservative women have been making historic strides throughout U.S. history. Major figures such as Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton were Republican suffragists who valiantly fought to guarantee women the right to vote. The first woman elected to Congress in 1916 was Jeannette Rankin, a Montana Republican. Sandra Day O’Connor became the first female U.S. Supreme Court justice after being appointed by Republican President Ronald Reagan in 1981.
Conservative women have also racked up recent achievements, with the 2020 election being the latest example. In the lead-up to the November contest, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., spearheaded an effort to recruit Republican women to run for office through her Elevate Political Action Committee. According to the Press-Republican, of the 28 first-time House candidates endorsed by Stefanik’s E-PAC, 16 won their races this year, with three races yet to be called.
“This is the success story of the 2020 election,” Stefanik said during a Monday interview. “2020 has widely been hailed as the year of the Republican woman.”
Furthermore, under the Trump administration, women have been routinely elevated to important executive roles. Sarah Huckabee Sanders became the first mother to achieve the role of White House press secretary, and Kayleigh McEnany the second. Other notable women in leadership positions include Kelly Craft as the first female ambassador to Canada (now ambassador to the United Nations) and Betsy DeVos as education secretary.
First Lady Melania Trump reportedly speaks five languages and, in 2017, became the only first lady to be a naturalized U.S. citizen. Throughout her tenure, she has used her platform to draw attention to the opioid epidemic ravaging the country, while also focusing on the well-being of children through her “Be Best” initiative.
Newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett made history this year by becoming the first mother of school-age children to serve on the high court. Barrett is now the fifth woman ever to serve on the Supreme Court.
Yet outside conservative media, these women don’t receive any major recognition and accolades for their massive achievements because they don’t fit the political mold of what the left believes women are supposed to think. The left’s faux feminism proves time and again that advancements for women mean nothing unless those women have a D next to their names.
What started as a blooper moment for Perino has turned “Get Your S— Done” into the modern-day version of “We Can Do It.” Conservative women have proved over and over that they can handle anything the left throws at them and that they don’t need glamorous media coverage to achieve.
