Cuomonavirus

While Europe may have seeded the outbreak in NY, it was Cuomo’s bungling that seeded the rest of the country.

Yesterday, in his daily appearance before a fawning press, the incompetent governor of New York repeatedly referred to COVID-19 as the “European virus.”  I’m sure President Xi was delighted. Cuomo’s reasoning, no doubt, is that the cases in New York were seeded by travel from Europe. [Which were seeded by travel from China, but Andrew’s head is too far up the ChiCom’s collective ass to mention that.]

But if we’re going to name the virus based on how the outbreak was seeded, maybe the US outbreak should be called the New York Virus – or, more specifically, the Cuomonavirus.

After all, we learned last week that the majority of cases in the US as a whole were seeded by travel from New York.

As I pointed out in my column “Grandma Killer,” President Trump suggested we quarantine parts of New York to prevent travel and contain the virus.  And Cuomo’s response was to threaten a lawsuit.  Which was the same response he had when Rhode Island attempted to bar travel from New York.

How different would the US outbreak be if Andrew Cuomo had not fought against these travel restrictions?  We’ll never know.  But considering how many cases throughout the country can be traced back to New York, it’s likely the US outbreak wouldn’t have been so severe.

So it’s no longer the Chinese Virus.  It’s no longer the European Virus.  It is the Cuomonavirus.

Fair is fair, right Andrew?  If we’re going to name it by what seeded the outbreak, it’s only fair to name it after you.

How many New Yorkers got infected and died because Andrew Cuomo waited two months to finally sanitize the super-spreader Subways?  That delay alone is reason enough to name this the Cuomonavirus.

How many New York seniors died unnecessarily because of Governor Cuomo’s order forcing nursing homes to readmit COVID-19 positive patients?  The sick and the dead from that order can be laid directly at the feet of Governor Super-spreader.  The cause of death for the more than five thousand nursing home residents should be changed to Cuomonavirus.

It was the Cuomonavirus that spread across the country and caused outbreaks to skyrocket nationally.  So it isn’t just the Cuomonavirus in New York; it’s the Cuomonavirus from coast-to-coast.

As I said yesterday, it is standard operating procedure for Andrew Cuomo to cover his incompetence by shifting blame to others.  He’s been doing it for a decade as Governor of New York.  So it doesn’t surprise me that he’s blaming Europe for his deadly missteps.

Yes, it might have been seeded there, but it seeded everywhere thanks to the Governor of New York, New York. [That sentence works if you sing it.]

Had he acted swiftly to shut down and sanitize the subways, had he not forced nursing homes to take in COVID patients, had he worked with the White House to quarantine hot-spots and restrict travel from New York, this “European virus” would not have spread with the swiftness and ease that it did.

But he did none of those things.

So, no, Governor.  It is no longer the European virus.  You recklessly endangered New Yorkers and the rest of the country.

You own it.
