"Those who are ignorant of History, are doomed to repeat it."

Marcus Tullius Cicero said in a speech before the Senate once:
“To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain always a child.
For what is the worth of human life, unless it is woven into the life of our ancestors by the records of history?”

So, who was Marcus Tullius Cicero?

He was a Roman statesman, orator, lawyer and philosopher, who served as consul in the year 63 BC.

Born in 106 BC to a wealthy municipal family of the Roman equestrian order, and is considered one of Rome's greatest orators and prose stylists. He died in 43 BC.

He made this statement when he saw people forgetting what History had to teach us.

So nearly 2,062 years later where are we?

260 years ago, Edmund Burke wrote: "Those who don't know History are destined to repeat it."

83 years ago, George Santayana wrote: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Sadly, all too often people lament how ignorant humans can be, and I fear they are right.

Think about this:

Napoleon invaded Russia, they retreated, winter came and Napoleon's forces were slaughtered.

Hitler invaded Russia, they retreated, winter came and Hitler's forces were slaughtered.

Seems Hitler thought he had a better plan than Napoleon.

Afghanistan is known as the Graveyard of Empires", the British Army left their and little improved, the Russian Army left their and little improved. America has been there nearly 20 years, has anything really improved?

Hitler killed 20 million people spreading his brand of Socialism/Fascism. Nazi Germany collapsed.

Stalin murdered 50 million people spreading his brand of Socialism/Communism. The Soviet Union collapsed.

Cuba is a basket case under Communism.

Venezuela is a basket case under Socialism

Lebanon, massive protests have brought an estimated one quarter of the country’s six million people onto the streets.

Chile, millions of people continue to flood the streets protesting social inequality and state violence in the largest demonstrations in the country’s history.

In the US, the strike by 32,000 Chicago teachers and support staff is in its second week, following the largest autoworker strike in 30 years by GM workers.

This eruption of the class struggle on a global scale terrifies the ruling class.

They are acutely aware of social tensions and the growing interest in socialism.

Seems they have forgotten History, but then they choose to not teach History don't they?

Finally, think about this:

* 70 percent of Millennials say they would be “somewhat likely” or “extremely likely” to vote for a socialist candidate. The percentage of Millennials who say they would be extremely likely to vote for a socialist candidate has doubled (from 10 percent in 2018 to 20 percent in 2019).

Liberals have been indoctrinating our youth since the late 60's, this is what they have achieved. A dumb down youth who may be turning on them like the uneducated unskilled masses in Lebanon and Chile.

We see Antifa, Black Lives Matter and even Communist groups protesting openly, so.......

What say you?
