Commies Are Delusional

I don't even know where to begin with this one. The level of denial and delusion that infests the communist Left, especially the rank and file, is awe-inspiring, really. They truly believe that if we spend hundreds of trillions on "free" stuff, they'll get to live a life of luxury. It's a bunch of historically illiterate nonsense, of course.

But let's dive into this and be amused together by how utterly stupid and naive they are. 

Here's what the post says:

You wake up in your nice, modern apartment, in a relatively dense and walkable city. People walk, bike, or take public transport. There are generous urban spaces with a lot of outdoor and indoor places encouraging cultural activities and an active community lifestyle. Everything is public property, meaning no fences, no private parks, etc.

I'm going to pause right here to point out "your nice, modern apartment" and "everything is public property" are contradictory terms.

Everything is accessible to everyone. Nobody "owns" their residence, as private property does not exist; there is enough housing for everyone to have a right to housing, and people get to choose a residence from a list of available residences. Your days are mostly made of community life, for example taking turns at cooking in common spaces where people get together to eat, people take turns in doing maintenance on infrastructure, some people will specialize in one field more than in another one and are thus free to choose one area over the other. If there is a need, they'll volunteer to take up some work in an area they're not specialized in, but they will do it out of a sense of community service.

There is no "work" in the way we know it today, there are no 9-7 office jobs, there is just a list of works that need to be done on any given day and if, for example, on a given day tehre is overall less work to do than normally, people will have more free time that day to spend on whatever other passions they have.

Some days will require more work to be done, and people will accept doing more work on that day due to their sense of duty toward the community. Things get produced according to what the community needs, and all needs get produced in sufficient numbers such that everyone has access to them equally.

This actually gave me a headache. See, there is no work. Except on days when there's more work, and everyone has to do it.

There are sufficient supplies for everyone, but who — pray tell — manufactures these supplies? Unicorns? Leprechauns? 

See, we have a system right now where you get to choose the job you want. I am a writer, so I work here at Townhall. That is my area of specialty, to use his term. I also have a nursing license that I could use if I chose to. I don't. But it's my choice.

You don't get that under socialism.

But the delusion doesn't stop there.

If needs change, production changes. There is no selling or buying; there is an organization of what needs to be produced and how much. Crime is probably outright inexistant [sic] due to the inexistence [sic] of the concept of the concept of private property and people's much stronger sense of community. The political organization is one of direct democracy, where everybody is encouraged to participate in their community's politics, meaning they get together to debate issues and find solutions. There is a lot of communication between every level of society.

I sometimes come close to feeling sorry for people who are this profoundly ignorant. Then I remember they're communists and not people.

I'm currently listening to Anne Applebaum's "Gulag" on Audible, and I've read enough about communism — in Russia and elsewhere — to understand how it would really go down in a communist America. If you're politically connected, you might get a cushy job as a teacher or an actress. But those white-collar jobs are reserved for the relatives and friends of the ruling class.

The rest of us? We get shipped off to a factory or farm. There is no time for relaxing. There is no vacation. The state will tell you how much you need to produce and punish you harshly if you fail. Communists don't abolish prisons; of course, they just repurpose them for their political enemies.

I almost — almost — want to see the commies take over, just so I can find this Reddit poster and watch them weep bitter tears as they get up for their sixth 12-hour shift at the tire factory this week. It would be glorious if it didn't mean I would be subject to the same abject poverty and oppression. There's a reason why none of these people relocate to the supposed communist utopia that is Cuba — they know it fails; they know it sucks.

Speaking of Cuba, the government "provides" for people's needs with monthly rations that barely cover one adult's daily caloric needs. While I know some leftists think calories are an invention of slave owners, the reality is communism can — and does — starve people. Often to death. But at least we wouldn't need those fascist GLP-1 meds anymore, huh?
