Is There More Legal Trouble on Tap for NY Attorney General Letitia James?

RedState

I don't know about you, readers, but it seems like we just got finished with the mortgage fraud charges against Democrat New York State Attorney General Letitia James getting thrown out by a judge. The trouble might not be over for her on the legal front, though, if a new complaint targeting the Empire State politician pans out.

According to an exclusive New York Post report, a conservative legal organization has filed an ethics complaint against James with the Attorney Grievance Committee, asking it to "immediately investigate the allegations" and, if it deems the evidence "substantiat[es]" those allegations, then mete out whatever corrective "[discipline]" the committee chooses:

The Center to Advance Security in America submitted a request with the Manhattan and Bronx-focused Attorney Grievance Committee for the state to investigate James’ potentially “illegal and dishonest conduct” leading to the criminal charges.

“Fraud, misrepresentation, honesty and trustworthiness are all factors that the Rules of Professional Conduct expressly factor when weighing whether to discipline an attorney,” wrote Curtis Schube, the group’s director of research and policy, in the four-page complaint.

“The Committee, therefore, should immediately investigate the allegations against James and, if by ‘preponderance of the evidence’ the allegations are substantiated, she should be disciplined accordingly.”

Now, we need to be clear-eyed about this; it is a deep blue state, New York. The chances that a lawyer group in New York would take up a request like this about a Democrat advocate are pretty slim. Here's the silver lining, though: Whether something comes of this new effort or not, the case on the alleged real estate fraud is not over, according to the Trump Justice Department, which appealed the ruling right after it was issued on Nov. 24.

Remember what Attorney General Pam Bondi said at the time: "We’ll be taking all available legal action, including an immediate appeal to hold Letitia James and James Comey accountable for their unlawful conduct...I'm going to keep going on this."

Stay tuned!
