Democrat Embarrassingly Proves She Has No Clue Why She Voted to Close Government

Democratic Representative Janelle Bynum (OR-5) proved she has absolutely no clue why she voted against the clean Continuing Resolution (CR) or that her party alone will be responsible when the funding runs out for SNAP benefits.

In a clip posted on Friday on X by House Speaker Mike Johson (LA-4), Bynum appeared on a CSPAN program to talk about the ongoing Schumer Shutdown as the deadline of November 1 looms when benefits for the food program run out due to the Democrats' refusal to reopen the government. 

Friday marks the 31st day of the closure of the government after Democrats, led by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), have refused to pass a clean CR that keeps things status quo to keep the government running at the same funding level. It is the exact same CR Democrats passed in March.

Johnson's post read:

Everyone should watch this incredible clip. Many House Democrats literally DON'T EVEN KNOW what they voted against when they closed the government! (Remember: Our CR was totally clean and nonpartisan, and only 24 short pages in length.)

In the clip, the host asked Bynum if Democrats should pass a standalone bill to fund SNAP [Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program] benefits, that's been proposed by Republicans. 

Instead of answering yes or no, the Dem. rep claimed that because the Republicans have the White House, House, and Senate, they have all the "control to make sure Americans get what they need."

However, it is the minority party, which she is part of, that has the power to close the government. This is something she should know. But in her next comments, she proved that she doesn't. Even those in her own party have admitted they are using it as "leverage," as RedState reported.

"Is that a yes then?" the host asked again, and Bynum said it wasn't in her control, claiming it was up to Johnson. 

"I just got here. I don't play politics. I want a clean bill that focuses on the American people. That makes sure kids have a full belly," Bynum said. "All of the clean this, clean that, Americans don't understand that. They know if they have their benefits or not."

"So put a bill on the table. Make sure it's very pure and clean, as they like to say," she added, appearing to make fun of the language. "And it doesn't have a whole lot of fluff in it."

The host then tried to press her again with the fact that the Republicans did have a clean CR vote on September 19 in the House.

"Did you vote on it?" the host said. 

Bynum proved again she doesn't understand what's happening, and said she "disagrees with" the host's "characterization and want to make clear what Republicans have been doing. Any bill that they've put forth, they've always had some extra stuff to it. There's always been a poison pill to it."

When the host tried to press her again on what exactly this poison pill was, Bynum couldn't say and deflected.

How embarrassing for Bynum and the Democrat Party as a whole. It is the same bill that passed through Congress in March.

Bottom line is what RedState has reported on numerous times after the government shutdown. It is the Democrats who are playing games with Americans because they want to ensure billions of dollars from the government are available to provide healthcare for illegals.
