Legacy Media Is All Smiles When Presidents Renovating the WH Are Democrats

Like a hound dog gnawing on a particularly meaty bone, the media just cannot seem to let go of the three-day-old nothingburger story about President Donald Trump renovating the East Wing of the White House to add a ballroom--mind you, with his own money and outside private sponsorships. And if it isn't them it's their allies in the Democrat Party who are bemoaning signs of the construction getting underway as "demolishing" it.

As RedState previously wrote, former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was among those who decided everyone needed to hear her two cents on the matter, dashing off an ill-considered post on X. It was - rightly - much ridiculed for tone deafness.

Nick Arama wrote that no, altering the East Wing of the White House isn't "destroying it," with historical precedence standing as an obvious stop sign to such an idiotic notion; several former presidents have made renovations and additions to the historic building.

The East Wing itself started out as a small entrance and cloakroom area under Teddy Roosevelt. In 1942, they added a bigger structure to cover an underground bunker, and that's where the First Lady has had offices. Adding space to accommodate people follows along in that tradition.

Another visible Democrat to pretend this was a sure sign of the Apocalypse is Maria Shriver, the former first lady of California and one-time NBC News journalist, and who happens to be a niece of Pres. John F. Kennedy. 

It breaks her heart and infuriates her, readers. Unsurprisingly, when Shriver piped up with the usual moaning and crying, it did not take long for someone on X to find receipts about her family's own history. Renovations that began during the JFK and Jackie Kennedy era are well documented. 

Journalist Salena Zito was the one who shared those receipts, showing a rather famous TV interview/tour given by then-First Lady Jackie Kennedy, with both broadcast and print media fawning all over the refreshed WH. .

How does Maria Shriver not know this? I will let you come up with your own answer. For sure, the legacy media knows, or should know, that this is nothing out of the ordinary - especially when it has been covered much differently when Dems have been in the Oval Office in more recent years.

Look at that bulldozer in the background. The mood isn't down and sad in the studio; it's almost like they're having a party.

This only leaves us with one reasonable conclusion, dear readers: The Left's complaining and fearmongering over this particular renovation of the People's House is because Trump is there. They have no leg to stand on, when their party's presidents have done the same sorts of construction--and the American people were the ones paying for it. Their hypocrisy knows no depths, once again.
