DHS Tells Gavin Newsom, California What They Can Do With Their 'Unconstitutional' ICE Mask Ban
As we reported, wannabe tough guy California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a threatening tweet toward the Department of Homeland Security Director on Saturday, saying, “Kristi Noem is going to have a bad day today. You’re welcome America.”
This “mostly peaceful” message was posted the day before the memorial for assassinated conservative leader and co-founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk. Way to turn down the temperature, Democrats. Disgusting.
It turned out later that he thought Noem would have a bad day because he was preparing to sign his latest gimmick legislation designed to thwart the federal government and do everything in his power to prevent them from enforcing immigration laws. This latest gambit declares it would now be illegal for ICE agents to wear masks while on official duty. This from the guy who tried to make you wear your mask at every possible minute during COVID, probably even while you were showering if he could have gotten away with it.
“What are they afraid of?” he repeated belligerently several times as he introduced the measure, putting on his best Clint Eastwood scowl.
As RedState alum and friend Kira Davis pointed out on X, “Uh. They’re afraid of being murdered by deranged leftists.” I almost wish she’d added, “dummy.”
Well, guess what, Gavin, I’ve got bad news for you: DHS isn’t having it, not even for a minute. Their message is simple: “To be clear: We will NOT comply with Gavin Newsom’s unconstitutional mask ban.”
At a time that ICE law enforcement faces a 1,000% increase in assaults and their family members are being doxxed and targeted, the sitting Governor of California signed unconstitutional legislation that strips law enforcement of protections in a disgusting, diabolical fundraising and PR stunt.
I'm very curious to see what Newsom will do when federal agents openly flout his "law."
But what about the weird Californians who still drive around double-masked and alone with the windows shut, the disturbed individuals who Newsom helped create with his draconian, two-year-long campaign against freedom during COVID? Are you going to arrest them?
As RedState’s editor Jennifer Van Laar reported, the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause poses just a little bit of a problem for Mr. Newsom. It says basically, “The Supremacy Clause refers to the foundational principle that, in general, federal law takes precedence over any conflicting state law.” As Van Laar wrote, Newsom’s response when questioned about that was “mind-numbingly stupid,” and his master plan was simply that “We’re going to test the theory.”
It’s not a theory, it’s the Constitution.
Gavin knows his law isn’t going to pass muster; he’s just posturing for the cameras. As usual.
