Video of Katie Britt Ripping Chris Murphy to Shreds Makes the Rounds, and We're Here for It
Though some may feel that Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) is one of the more annoying pipsqueaks in Congress, I say that would be insulting to pipsqueaks, as there might be a time or two when they deserve a little respect.
Murphy, on the other hand, deserves none. When he's not working behind the scenes to undermine America, he's taking the opportunity to try to grab for your gun rights in the aftermath of mass shooting incidents, where he oftentimes rushes to - without evidence - blame Republicans.
The Senator, who some have speculated is gearing up for a 2028 run for president, has also attempted to raise his national profile since Donald Trump was sworn into office for a second time. For instance, he announced in June that he had started a new group whose goal was "to fund citizen led protest groups all over the country," as if George Soros wasn't giving the purported "citizen-led" groups already in existence enough.
Sen. Chris Murphy Confirms He Is Just a Genuinely Awful Person
Needless to say, anytime we see that Murphy is on the receiving end of a righteous verbal smackdown, we take notice, because few things are more gratifying from a political standpoint than seeing Murphy put in his place.
As it turns out, that is exactly what appeared to happen on Thursday on the floor of the U.S. Senate, where the two of them were seen having what looked like an intense exchange, with Britt seeming to have the upper hand throughout most of the back and forth, which was said to have gone on for about ten minutes:
It’s unclear what the exchange was about, but the reporter who caught the clip speculates, “Britt is the chair and Murphy is the ranking member on the Homeland Security Subcommittee of the Approps Committee, and it’s approps season, so perhaps something related to that?”
Murphy is strident on a number of mainstream liberal issues like gun control and immigration. But whatever it was that drew the ire of Britt — she clearly wasn’t backing down.
Watch:
I should note for the record that this isn't the first time Britt has taken issue with Murphy and publicly expressed her disagreement:
Sen. Britt seems to have a way about her when it comes to her male Democrat colleagues, not only just with Murphy - who wasn't putting up much of a fight in that video, but also with Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), who she became friends with in 2023 when they were both freshman Senators and he was battling clinical depression and issues related to his 2022 stroke.
Britt, who is solidly conservative, also reportedly struck up a friendship with Vermont Sen. Peter Welch (D) around the same time.
A solid combination of grace, grit, determination, and compassion, with a healthy dose of "bless your heart" sprinkled in when the occasion calls for it. You're doing your southern brothers and sisters proud, Sen. Britt. Solid work.
