Dem Senator Attempts to Ambush Secretary Noem, Forcibly Removed from News Conference
Democrat Senator Alex Padilla claims he was in the federal building waiting for a scheduled briefing with federal officials and General Guillot, when he heard DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was giving a press briefing nearby. Senator Padilla entered the room and attempted to rush toward Noem without announcing his intention; he was intercepted by security and forcibly removed from the room while he began saying who he was.
What is witnessed on the cameras is exactly what would happen to any random person who attempted to confront a cabinet secretary during press briefing. However, Padilla and his tribe are claiming victim status as an outcome of his attempted publicity stunt. WATCH:
Senator Padilla is not a well-known public figure and was likely unknown to many of the security officers and law enforcement in the room at the time of the incident.
VIA CBS – […] Padilla addressed the situation outside the Wilshire Federal Building in Westwood, appearing to get emotional at times. He told reporters he was in the federal building waiting for a scheduled briefing with federal officials and General Guillot when he went to listen to Noem’s speech. He explained that he was trying to get information about DHS’s immigration enforcement actions around the LA area and the state.
After being forcibly removed from the room, Padilla said he was forced to the ground, handcuffed, but was not detained or arrested.
“If this how this administration responds to a senator with a question, if this is how the Department of Homeland Security responds to a senator with a question you can only imagine what they’re doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California and throughout the country,” he said. As we reported, Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) created an incident at DHS Secretary Kristi Noem's press briefing in Los Angeles on Thursday. She was making opening remarks.
It wasn't even time for questions when Padilla came up on the side of the room without identifying himself, no one knew who he was, and haranguing her.
They then tried to push him back, but he pushed back against them. You can see how close he gets in this new video.
After the incident, Padilla issued a statement. Notice he doesn't take questions.
Padilla said he was there waiting for a scheduled briefing in another room. He admits he was getting a briefing. He learned Noem's press briefing was a couple of doors away, then went to her press briefing. He said at one point he had a question (even though it wasn't time for questions for reporters). Haranguing her isn't a "question."
He said he wasn't arrested or detained.
Then this was the money language, the new "narrative."
"If this is how this administration responds to a senator with a question...you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community, and throughout California, and throughout the country," he said as he started to tear up. "We will hold this administration accountable."
Oh please. Even CNN's security expert explained why security reacted as they did.

But Noem then destroyed Padilla's hot take on Fox. She said no one knew who he was, and coming into a press conference like that was "political theater."
She then called out "absolutely ridiculous" and said his actions were "completely inappropriate," "not becoming a U.S. senator," and "perhaps he wanted the scene."
Noem said the American people are tired of this.
"People need to get over themselves and have the backs of law enforcement," she said.
