Black-Clad Man Scales White House Fence - Here's What Happened Next

Nick Arama reporting for RedState

Some folks who were taking video of the White House on Monday afternoon got quite a surprise with what happened while they were filming.

Suddenly a man, dressed all in black, rushed toward the fence, moving over the barriers quickly. He then began to climb the White House fence by the South Grounds. He reportedly said "F**k it" before he started over the fence. You can hear the people who were there as tourists wondering what was going on, asking when the police and the Secret Service would respond as the man continued to crawl up the fence.

One of the tourists says, "Bro!" with concern that the guy seems to be getting up the fence without being impeded. No one was reacting.

A police officer appeared to watch the man going up the fence as dogs and Secret Service began to come across the lawn. The man looked like he was trying to flip over the fence, but he stopped at the top. Perhaps he thought better of it when he saw the dogs coming. He denied when he was up there that he was going to try to get back down.

When he got back down, that's when the rest of the police showed up and nailed him. It really wasn't that long, just a little over a minute, but it seemed it took a while for the response and people to get there. What if he had something on him that was dangerous? It also revealed how quickly you could potentially get over that fence, which was a little concerning. Some he had on him also dropped to the ground, so I hope they secured whatever that was. Two of the spikes at the top of the fence also appeared to fold over from his body.

The man who took the video was an Oklahoma tourist, David Stanley.

Stanley told Fox 5 he and his wife could also see rooftop snipers “scurrying around” as officers zeroed in on the man.

Authorities have not released the identity of the climber or shared his motive for scaling the White House fence.

The man did appear to be a black, bearded man. It wasn't clear yet what charges he might face. They don't have any information yet about what his purpose was or what he was thinking. But whatever it was, he is now facing the consequences of such a stupid move.

President Trump was likely in the building. He was there greeting the Stanley Cup champions, the Florida Panthers, that afternoon.

There were situations in the recent past involving people trying to scale the fence or cause trouble, including with protesters seemingly trying to push down fencing around the White House over the war in Gaza.

The Secret Service has to be more than a little sensitive at this point about Trump's safety, and there are a lot of security precautions around the building. Fortunately, in this case, they are able to take this guy down.
