John Brennan Bellyaching About His Security Clearance Being Pulled Over Laptop Intel Letter
Among the many things that President Donald Trump did after he was sworn in, he issued an executive order to pull the security clearance of the 51 former intelligence officials who were behind the discredited Hunter Biden laptop letter. The letter claimed the laptop had "all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation."
Of course, the laptop was real. Then Joe Biden utilized that letter during the presidential debate with Trump in 2020 to aid his campaign, and deflect from all the things the laptop revealed.
As part of his executive order, Trump also ordered an investigation to find out if there was any additional "inappropriate activity" within the Intelligence Community related to the letter. That's likely to make anyone else who may have been involved with it nervous.
Trump's actions did not make ex-Obama CIA Director John Brennan — who was one of the letter's signatories — very happy. Indeed, he was whining on MSNBC about it, and it's pretty hilarious. Listen to his scrambling and backpedaling, trying to explain what they did, as well as the word games he tries to play.
Then Brennan said Trump misrepresented what they said in the letter. He said Trump said the letter suggested it was "Russian disinformation." "No, we said it was bore the hallmarks of Russian information operations," he said.
Brennan can try to spin it now, but it was an attempt to attack the legitimacy of the laptop right before the election. Biden then used it to help his chances in the election. Former Acting CIA Director Mike Morell, who was behind the letter, said that the purpose of the letter was to help Biden because he wanted him to win, and that he wouldn't have thought of it without a call from Antony Blinken, who was acting an advisor to the Biden campaign at the time. So I don't know who Brennan thinks he's convincing with this, but no one's buying this play. He can whine all he likes, but Trump is in charge now, despite everything that has been leveled against him, and now there's going to be a lot of change over the next four years that the left isn't going to handle well. This is just the start.
