Liz Cheney Threatens Trump DOJ With 'Sanctions' If They Investigate Her + Kinzinger Just Cries

Bonchie  reporting  for  RedState

Liz Cheney threatened Donald Trump's incoming Department of Justice on Monday, claiming that any move to investigate the now-defunct January 6th committee would be "sanctionable conduct." The statement, put out in response to Trump's recent "Meet the Press" interview, also denied allegations that she and her colleagues destroyed evidence.

While speaking to NBC News' Kristen Welker, the president-elect said the following.

“Cheney did something that’s inexcusable, along with Thompson and the people on the un-select committee of political thugs and, you know, creeps,” the President-elect said, referring to Mississippi Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (the committee’s chairman). “They deleted and destroyed all evidence.”

That triggered Cheney, who lashed out, stating that Trump committed the "worst breach of our Constitution by any president in our nation's history."

“Here is the truth: Donald Trump attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election and seize power,” she said in a statement. “He mobilized an angry mob and sent them to the United States Capitol, where they attacked police officers, invaded the building and halted the official counting of electoral votes. Trump watched on television as police officers were brutally beaten and the Capitol was assaulted, refusing for hours to tell the mob to leave.”

She continued: “This was the worst breach of our Constitution by any president in our nation’s history. Donald Trump’s suggestion that members of Congress who later investigated his illegal and unconstitutional actions should be jailed is a continuation of his assault on the rule of law and the foundations of our republic.”

Reading this post-election makes it all the more pathetic. There has still never been any evidence presented that Donald Trump intended for anyone to physically attack the Capitol Building. It's also simply false that he refused to ask the "mob to leave" for "hours." Trump did not try to "seize power," and it has been proven that he requested National Guard troops to be present but was rebuffed.

How do we know that? Because the January 6th committee received testimony corroborating the claim. Of course, Cheney and her cohorts buried it, refusing to include it in their hearings or report. The testimony wasn't revealed until March of 2024. A month later, three National Guard officers came forward as whistleblowers to tell the same story

As to Trump's claim of evidence being "deleted and destroyed," that happened as well.

Report Details How Liz Cheney and Democrats Deleted Evidence, Hired Producers to Mislead Public

When faced with that reality, Cheney threatened the incoming Trump administration.

“Donald Trump knows his claims about the select committee are ridiculous and false, as has been detailed extensively, including by Chairman Thompson,” she said. “There is no conceivably appropriate factual or constitutional basis for what Donald Trump is suggesting — a Justice Department investigation of the work of a congressional committee — and any lawyer who attempts to pursue that course would quickly find themselves engaged in sanctionable conduct.”

I'm not sure exactly how that would work. It seems as if Cheney is suggesting Congress could sanction the DOJ as a separation of powers issue. Color me skeptical that would ever happen, especially given the current Republican majority, however slim. Or maybe she means the legal establishment will step in and do her bidding? Whatever it is, Cheney's threat does show how he or she views the rule of law. While constantly bleating about it, she does not believe it applies to herself.

Regardless, it is pedantic nonsense to latch onto Trump's mention of "all evidence" when he was clearly speaking in generalities. The January 6th committee did delete some of the evidence, and they also hid much more of it in an attempt to color the public's view of the situation for political gain. Those are undeniable facts, no matter how much Cheney tries to muddy the waters.

As to her threats, they are toothless. The Trump DOJ should investigate what happened with the January 6th committee. It should find out how much evidence was altered and destroyed in what was a clear abuse of power and a waste of taxpayer money. That's what people voted for in November. They didn't vote for the status quo. They voted for change and accountability. Cheney, who campaigned with Kamala Harris, can cope and seeth about it.

Adam Kinzinger Stomps His Little Foot and Insists He’s Not Afraid of Trump’s Jail Threat

Adam Kinzinger, the man so distraught over the Capitol protests in 2021 that he cried during an initial hearing on the matter and admitted he had "barricaded" himself in his office with his gun at the ready, pulled up his little big boy pants, stomped on over to CNN, and insisted he's not afraid of Donald Trump.

Specifically, Trump's suggestion that members of the highly-partisan January 6th committee investigating the incident belong in prison.

The President-elect (it's important to call him that since the committee's entire purpose for existing was to prevent Trump from bearing that title ever again) addressed the J6 committee in a recent interview with “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker.

He explained that the Island of Misfit politicians pushed a false narrative about the riot and added, “Those people committed a major crime.”

“Honestly, they should go to jail,” Trump said.

Kinzinger, in a rebuttal on CNN, provided the kind of commentary you'd expect from the testosterone-deprived former Congressman.

“No, I have absolutely no worries about this,” Kinzinger told CNN’s “Inside Politics” host Manu Raju over the weekend.

The self-described Republican from Illinois turned "White Dude for Harris" further suggested the committee's biggest crime was embarrassing Trump. You know, not the fact that they pushed debunked conspiracy theories to the public, doctored text messages, or even that they destroyed evidence before the GOP took control of the House.

No, no. It was about ketchup ... or something.

“First off, the executive branch can’t go after the legislative branch because we embarrassed him. That’s not a sin. That’s not against the law," Kinzinger told Raju. "Ultimately, when we talked about him throwing his ketchup and hamburger against the wall, there’s nothing illegal about that."

The CNN commentator is referencing testimony provided by former Mark Meadows aide Cassidy Hutchinson, who laughably testified about an angry Trump throwing a plate against the wall, resulting in "ketchup dripping down that wall."

Trump: Pardons for J6 Prisoners Coming on Day One, Says Some Members of J6 Committee ‘Should Go to Jail’

Hutchinson is emblematic of the problem with the J6 committee. She allegedly engaged in back-channel text messages with Kinzinger's twin, Liz Cheney, leading to accusations of her testimony being influenced. Then, she repeatedly provided false testimony regarding absurd self-imagined stories.

According to Kinzinger, that's neither here nor there. Trump's anger with the committee is about his feelings being hurt. That's it. End of story.

“So look, he’s all butt hurt right now because he was embarrassed,” Adam said. “He’s not going to come after us, and I’m not worried about it at all in the least.”

I don't know how much money Democrats and CNN left on the nightstand for Kinzinger to abandon every principle he ever held to become their personal propaganda prostitute, but it's likely not enough.

It's always fascinating when the poster boy for transitioning into a drama queen insists he's not afraid of the big, evil orange man by going on CNN and insisting to the world that he is one bad hombre.

This is the same guy who openly sobbed during a hearing for the J6 committee.

“We may have our deep differences on other policy issues, but we are all Americans today,” he said at the time, eyes puffy, biting his lip. “And we thank you for holding that line.”

That's the guy who wants you to think he'll someday become a real boy. The same guy who thought he was going to have to turn Rambo on January 6th and start shooting rioters.

Kinzinger admitted during an interview for Rolling Stone that he contemplated firing his gun as pro-Trump supporters calmly walked through the Capitol.

The former lawmaker said he left "pretty much when the proceedings started" and then "spent basically the next six hours in my office, hunkered down, with my gun out, prepared to defend against my own party."

"So I barricaded myself in here, thinking, 'If this is as bad as it seems, they may end up at my office, breaking this crap down, and I may have to do what I can,'" he added.

AOC, who indicated she was almost literally "murdered" on January 6th, has nothing on this guy. What a rube.
