112 Christian churches in Canada have been vandalized, burned down or desecrated
Dear Ross, 112 Christian churches in Canada have been vandalized, burned down or desecrated since the announcement of the apparent discovery of graves found near a residential school in Kamloops, BC. Since then, three other first nations have announced similar claims of burial sites located near former residential schools. But as we now know, precisely zero of these “burial sites” have actually been confirmed. That is, not a single body has been dug up. The headlines of “mass graves” over the last few years have been 100% fake news. But that hasn’t stopped far-left radicals from using this opportunity as an excuse to terrorize Catholic and other Christian communities by targeting churches, including those used by first nations communities. This effort has been enabled by Canada’s federal government and the legacy media:
And to be clear, the church burnings haven’t stopped. Just a few months ago, in September, a man was charged with two counts of murder after a Winnipeg church was burned, killing two people inside! Trudeau, who never hesitates to capitalize on tragic events when his preferred political constituencies are the victims, has been comparatively silent on 112 Christican churches being attacked. Far from taking a knee or making a bold statement, he offers only boilerplate condemnation when the legacy media infrequently bother to ask about these attacks on religious freedom.. Just a couple weeks ago, Conservative MP Jamil Jivani drew attention to the church burnings. In response, left-wing commentator and former NDP staffer Max Fawcett attacked Jivani, accusing him of cultivating “a sense of victimhood in groups that aren't actually victims” because – seriously, this is their argument – arson is already a crime in Canada. Pretending that Christianity isn’t under attack after an unprecedented number of violent attacks (which led to deaths) is peak – to use their preferred term – denialism. Ross – True North is the only outlet that has been diligently tracking these attacks since 2021, and we have been consistently calling out the truth while the legacy media refuses to. |

And as you can see, this is not some localized effort. Churches from coast to coast to coast have been attacked. And our government’s and legacy media’s non-reaction is abhorrent. The silver lining to this sad state of affairs is that while the Canadian legacy media failed to do their jobs as usual, many international media – including the Wall Street Journal – picked up on our reporting. They even linked to our map of churches as the authoritative resource on this topic. It is clearer than ever that if Canadians want the truth, they need to turn to independent media. |
