Gallup Poll Reveals Who Is More Popular – and It's Devastating for Kamala Harris

Nick Arama reporting for RedState

I don't think Kamala Harris' campaign is going to want to show her the numbers that just dropped from Gallup. She reportedly can get nasty with staff and whoever hands this to her is likely to get their head taken off.

Among the things the poll hit was the popularity of former President Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Guess who was more popular? Hint: it wasn't Harris.

The poll showed that 46 percent had a favorable view of Trump compared to 53 percent unfavorable. He's gone up five points in favorability and down two points in unfavorability since August. He's more popular now than in 2016 or 2020.

Harris on the other hand is at 44 percent favorable to 54 percent unfavorable. She's gone down three points in favorability and up five points in unfavorability since August.

So much for any debate bounce for her. If anything, it looks like he got the bounce. She's dipping and he's rising.

Now, both are still underwater, and that isn't great. But Trump has a nine-point lead with independents, which is a positive.

This is consistent with what we saw from the tracking of independents' reactions during the debate; they tracked more with what Trump was saying.

In the Gallup poll, Trump is 44-53 with independents versus Harris, who is at only 35 percent favorability to 60 percent unfavorability. She's 25 points underwater with independents who she desperately needs to have to have a chance.

If these numbers were to hold into the election, she'd be in deep trouble.

This is what happened in the primary in 2020. The more people saw of her, the more they ended up turning up their noses at her. Now, especially when she's still playing these games about what her policies are, people don't trust her or what she would do.

Biden's approval is at 39 percent overall, 31 percent with independents. That's based on his record of which Harris is a big part, so Republicans have to make sure that she can't just avoid that and pretend as though she's something "new." But the numbers aren't looking good for her here. Plus it's pretty clear that people aren't buying what seems to be the Democrats' only play, that Trump is somehow Hitler. It looks like that narrative is failing.

The problem is she doesn't help herself.
