On Immigration, Justin Trudeau Is Now Campaigning Against Himself
The Prime Minister is talking about immigration in a way he would have denounced less than a year ago.
As he seeks to get credit for reversing his own damaging policies, the Prime Minister has flipped from an advocate of absurd immigration increases to someone now using immigration restrictionism rhetoric.
Just look at what he said today while announcing a cut in temporary foreign worker permits:
“PM Justin Trudeau says Canadian businesses should not increase their reliance on low-cost foreign labor.
“It’s not fair to Canadians struggling to find a good job, and it’s not fair to those temporary foreign workers, some of whom are being mistreated and exploited”
Trudeau is now explicitly linking increased immigration to the fact that it’s tough for Canadians to find jobs.
And he’s right.
The problem of course is that Justin Trudeau is the one who imposed the massive immigration increases that led to such a poor job market for Canadians.
His government made it easier for temporary foreign workers to be exploited.
This is on him.
Adding to the hypocrisy is that a year or so ago Trudeau and the Liberals would have denounced anyone who spoke about immigration the way Trudeau is speaking about it now.
Once a government has reached the point where they are forced to campaign against their own failings, it should be a sign to everyone that it’s time for a new party to be in power.
