WATCH: MSNBC Waxes Histrionic Over Fears 2024 Will Be the Last Election if Trump or DeSantis Wins

Mike Miller reporting for RedState

Ya know, while CNN being CNN, meaning the self-anointed "Most Trusted Name in News" is anything but trusted, the cartoonish histrionics regularly on display on MSNBC are a hard act to beat — for outstanding comedic value, I mean. A perfect case in point follows.

After spending endless hours in 2022 histrionically warning that the midterm elections might be the last free and fair elections in the country, MSNBC’s "The 11th Hour" warned on Thursday that the 2024 presidential election will be “the last election that we can recognize” if either Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis wins.

The 2020 presidential election was unavailable for comment.

After referencing a recent statement released by 13 presidential foundations on the importance of democracy and civility, host Stephanie Ruhle kicked off the festivities by asking (of all people) the Lincoln Project’s Stuart Stevens:

How do we get people—how do these foundations get this to break through so people understand it? They realize it?

Stop the tape. How ironic that the network of Joy Reid and Nicolle Wallace has the cojones to talk about the importance of democracy and civility.

Anyway, Stevens jumped all over Ruhle's softball like a champ. An irrational-as-hell champ, but a champ just the same.

Yeah listen, I think this is why it was so important that in the last election, the president went out and talked about democracy. Really, that is what the ‘24 race is about. Democracy is on the ballot and I say this, and it sounds alarmist but I know these people and it’s true. If Donald Trump, or a Donald Trump want-to-be like DeSantis is elected president, it'll be the last election that we can recognize as an American election.

It's even more hilarious that these people actually seem to believe the bilge they blather — completely devoid of anything even close to resembling facts to back up their narratives.

Stevens continued:

So, we should listen to what they are saying. The difficulty with the unimaginable is that it is hard to imagine and that's when democracy slides into autocracy. It’s why I wrote this book; it's the people who believe in democracy [who] have a difficulty expressing — imagining it will, and the autocrats take advantage of that and they use the powers of the freedoms afforded in democracy to help end the democracy. And that's exactly what is playing out here.

The hypocritical irony alone is astonishing. Then again, of course, it isn't. It's what these people do on a daily basis. And, again, their smug lack of self-awareness is off the charts.

I won't relitigate the 2020 presidential election, but it's clear that voter fraud occurred. By which side primarily, and how much? I don't know. But I do know this:

Democrats don't want to make it easier the vote; they want to make it easier to cheat.

From dishonest opposition to voter ID laws to counting unmarked mailed-in ballots after an election is over, and lax early voting, it doesn't take a Mensa member to figure out which party is more apt to threaten the democratic process and fair elections.

And, please, MSNBC, don't preach about civility — race hustler extraordinaire Joy Reid is still on your network, so take a seat.
