Democrats Tout Deceptively Edited Video of Turley, Implying There Is No Evidence for Impeachment

Jeff Charles reporting for RedState

Those naughty Democrats are lying yet again. As you might already know, today was the first day of House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. The proceedings are focused on allegations regarding the extent of the president’s involvement in his son Hunter’s foreign business dealings.

Republicans brought a slew of witnesses to testify about the basis for the impeachment inquiry to establish the reasoning behind the move. Legal analyst Jonathan Turley gave testimony about the veracity of the evidence presented and whether it was enough to go through with the inquiry.

On social media, Democrats have been gleefully sharing a doctored version of a video clip in which Turley says that he does not believe the evidence presented up to this point is enough to support articles of impeachment.

The Daily Beast also published a piece with the quote, celebrating it as a win for the left.

But, as always, there is a problem.

See, these sneaky lefties cut off the last part of the clip in which Turley affirms that House Republicans have provided sufficient evidence to warrant an impeachment inquiry, which is precisely what America is witnessing today.

I want to emphasize what it is that we're here today for. This is a question of an impeachment inquiry. It is not a vote on articles of impeachment. In fact, I do not believe that the current evidence would support articles of impeachment. That is something that an inquiry has to establish. But I also do believe that the House has passed the threshold for an impeachment inquiry into the conduct of President Biden.

What is happening here is that Democrats are playing on the notion that most regular folks, who are not immersed in politics, don’t understand the difference between an inquiry and the actual impeachment process. Their hope is to convince their followers that Turley was saying that Republicans have no reason to possibly impeach Biden when, in reality, he was actually explaining that the evidence is intended to justify the inquiry, which is a deeper investigation into the allegations against Biden. The inquiry is essentially designed to turn up evidence, if any, that would be sufficient to follow through with impeachment proceedings.

But apparently, Democrats are hoping the public is gullible enough to buy what they are selling.
