'Long, Hot Summer': CBS News Poll Hits Joe Biden Right Where It Hurts the Most

Sister Toldjah reporting for RedState

President Joe Biden is now on like his fourth summer vacation outing over the last month or so, with the latest one being a 10-day retreat to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware in the midst of the scandals swirling on Capitol Hill related to serious allegations against Biden and his son, Hunter, of bribery, influence peddling, and corruption at the highest levels, and talk of an impeachment inquiry heating up.

But though the Biden is – as per the norm – currently safely ensconced away from reporters, critics, and any inconvenient questions they may have about the explosive claims from whistleblowers, he can’t escape the waves of bad news that keep hitting him, like polls showing firm majorities have serious concerns about his mental and physical fitness to lead the country over the next four years if he was to be reelected.

Another poll, just released Sunday, delivered even more of a blow to Biden as his team prepares to kick his reelection campaign into high gear. As CBS News noted in their most recent survey, Biden’s numbers on the economy – an issue this White House believes is Biden’s biggest strength going into 2024 – are terrible:

Never mind the macro stats for the U.S. economy — Americans are hot, and very much still bothered by high prices, with recent reports about GDP growth, stock gains and a strong labor market apparently providing cold comfort. At least so far.

Instead, most describe the economy as “uncertain,” along with calling it bad, and “struggling” but not improved.

So, there’s plenty of lagging skepticism hanging over the public mind after the turmoil of recent years and months of chatter about a potential recession. Almost no one is calling things “stable.”

And that’s the case despite relatively good feelings about the job market and job security.

It’s not just whether one has a job, but what your wages can buy you. Most of those working say their pay is not keeping pace with rising prices.

Most terrifying for Biden will be the news that voters are putting the blame right where it belongs – on Joe Biden:

Sounds like this summer is indeed shaping up to be a long, hot, miserable one for Joe Biden, because despite his frequent disappearing acts, there is no running away from the uphill battles he faces going into the autumn and winter months — and headed into 2024.
