New Info Throws Wrench Into That Suit by the Producer Against Tucker Carlson and Fox
There’s been a lot of speculation about the reasons for Tucker Carlson and Fox “parting ways.” Carlson has not yet clarified the issue, nor has Fox, so I’m not going to speculate here.
But what I do want to report talk about is the lawsuit that we reported on in March that was filed by a producer named Abby Grossberg. Grossberg previously worked for Maria Bartiromo and then was working on Carlson’s show before she was fired last month. She was the head of booking from July 2022 until March. when she was let go. She filed a lawsuit alleging, among other things, a hostile work environment. She makes claims about Dominion and that lawsuit as well, but the part that pertains to Carlson appears to be related to “bullying, antisemitic comments, and sexism.” She gave a lengthy interview about it on MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace’s show on Wednesday. She claimed that Tucker and his producer Justin Wells were responsible for making her life a “living hell.” As I reported, Wells also “parted ways” with Fox at the same time as Carlson.
Except there is a small problem with Grossberg’s contention, as Townhall and the Spectator explain. Grossberg admitted that she had never met Tucker Carlson.
“Like many on the [Tucker Carlson Tonight] staff, Abby never met Tucker Carlson in person because he taped the show from his personal studios in Maine and Florida, and he did not visit Fox’s NY HQ during her time there,” Kimberly A. Catala, one of the attorneys representing Grossberg, said.
The statement confirms a recent report from a former Fox News employee and complicates the story about Carlson, Grossberg and the workplace environment on the show he hosted
That makes it just a little bit harder to push a “hostile work environment” from Carlson if you never met him and weren’t even working in the same location. We’ll have to see what she can produce. But the examples we’ve heard so far aren’t exactly earth-shattering.
My colleague Joe Cunningham wrote last month:
She is also alleging rampant sexism and misogyny behind the scenes at Fox, including images posted in the workplace that show former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in “a plunging bathing suit revealing her cleavage,” according to the suit (Author’s Note: I sincerely apologize for writing that sentence out and I regret every life choice that has led me to this moment).
Supposedly Carlson also referred to Sidney Powell in derogatory terms including “c**t.”
That is not good, but it doesn’t exactly sound like a “living hell,” even if these claims were true, and we don’t know that they are.
Grossberg said to Wallace that her legal team was reviewing and analyzing audio recordings, presumably to dig up things that she hasn’t even put out there yet. That makes me wonder how much any of the things allegedly affected her for that “living hell” if she has to search for stuff now. And are these phone calls, work communications, and/or was she recording Carlson? That’s a lot of recordings for someone who was there for just a short period which makes me wonder what she was doing. But there’s no doubt that MSNBC will milk it for all its worth.
