Morell, Blinken & Biden Camp Behind Intel Community Letter Labeling Hunter's Laptop as Russian Disinfo

NEW: Secretary Blinken, Biden Campaign Behind Intel Community Letter Labeling Hunter's Laptop as Russian Disinfo

Bob Hoge reporting for RedState

It was a bombshell story—the drug-addicted son of a presidential candidate abandoned a laptop with salacious photos and videos, but also with possibly incriminating information again the candidate himself and his dubious financial dealings. It was, of course, the New York Post exclusive regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop that he left in a Delaware repair shop.

With just weeks to go before the 2020 election, mainstream news outlets, big tech and much of the intelligence community censored, ignored, and tried to discredit the story. Fifty-one active and retired intelligence “experts” signed a letter in which they claimed that the laptop story “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.” They have never issued a formal apology or retraction for that falsehood to this day.

But who put them up to it? Turns out it was now-Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who at the time was the Biden campaign’s foreign affairs adviser. As Republicans had promised, former acting CIA Director Mike Morell testified this week before the House Judiciary Committee:

In private sworn testimony, Morell told the House Judiciary Committee that Antony Blinken, now Secretary of State, was the senior campaign official who reached out to him “on or before” Oct. 17, 2020, three days after The Post published an email from the laptop suggesting Hunter had introduced his Ukrainian business partner to his father, then vice-president Biden.

Morell, identified as a potential CIA director under Biden, said he organized the letter to “help Vice President Biden … because I wanted him to win the election.”

Until Blinken’s call, Morell told House investigators that he had no intention of writing any statement exonerating Biden. [Emphasis mine.]

Notice that Morell was “identified as a potential CIA director under Biden.” Meaning, if you get a call to do a favor for the Biden campaign, you do it if you want a plum administration post. The second thing to notice is that he says he did it because he “wanted him to win the election,” not because he believed the story was misinformation.

The pressure campaign didn’t stop there though:

At 10.53 p.m. the night of the call, Blinken emailed Morell a USA Today article claiming that the FBI was examining whether Hunter’s laptop was part of a “disinformation campaign.”

At the bottom of Blinken’s email was the signature block of Andrew Bates, then-director of rapid response for the Biden campaign.

In the end, former Director of the CIA John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former Director of the CIA Leon Panetta, Director of the National Security Agency Michael Hayden, and the aforementioned Mike Morell—some of whom had endorsed Biden for president—signed the fallacious document.

The letter was used by the Biden campaign to deny any wrongdoing and to claim it was all a nefarious plot to make the candidate look bad. Biden even used it to deflect questions from Donald Trump during the October 2020 debate about his family’s questionable international business dealings.

Many claims that the 2020 election was rigged have been thrown around. The success of big tech, “journalists” and the intelligence community to shut down the Laptop From Hell story was possibly the biggest interference of all—and it looks like the Biden campaign was behind it.
