Trump Gets Deposed in the Jean Carroll Case, and Absolute Hilarity Ensues
Donald Trump is currently facing a civil lawsuit brought by a woman named E. Jean Carroll. That’s a name RedState’s readers might remember if they aren’t new to politics. The former president has been accused for years by Jean Carroll of sexual assault, with the claims first surfacing back in 2019.
At the time, I penned a piece laying out her comments, many of which were frankly very weird. Now, Trump has been deposed in the case, and the results are absolutely hilarious.
There’s long been a concern among Trump’s lawyers that putting him in a deposition is a bit like putting a rabid raccoon in a crib with a baby. Doing that just isn’t going to end well, but in this case, the former president was left with no choice, having been ordered by the judge to appear. Sure enough, it was vintage Trump, and that shot at Biden in which he’s bragging about having written a statement himself is an instant classic.
He didn’t stop there either. In other parts of the deposition, Trump threatens to sue the other lawyer, because why not?
I’m guessing that’s not a great legal strategy, and certainly, Trump was off the leash. But you know what? Who cares? It’s a civil suit where the worst that can happen is a billionaire loses some money. Let Trump be Trump because if these are the results, I’m down for it.
Besides, is he wrong about Biden? That guy hasn’t written anything himself since college, and even then, it wouldn’t surprise me if he was cheating. Who can forget his plagiarism scandal where he was forced to drop out of a presidential race? Nowadays, Biden is even more of an empty suit, constantly being handed comments to read by his handlers, and more often than not, he can’t even do that right.
I don’t know what’s going to happen in 2024, and I’m not bullish on Trump recovering enough with the electorate to win in a general, but one thing I do know: If he’s the nominee, it’s going to be incredibly entertaining.
