Elizabeth Warren Accidentally Explains the Problem With Twitter Before Elon

Nick Arama reproting for RedState

The anger from people on the left about Elon Musk taking over Twitter has been something to see. Those very same folks on the left who said Twitter was a private entity so if you weren’t happy with them imposing a liberal narrative, you should go build your own Twitter, are now flipping out and saying something has to be done about Musk championing free speech on the platform.

No one encapsulates that ridiculous Democratic stance better than Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

“Republicans say that Democrats are picking on Elon Musk,” Fox Business’ Hillary Vaughn said to Warren. “Elon Musk is doing just fine,” Warren said sarcastically, downplaying the Democrats’ threat to him.

“Do you think that users have a right to freedom of speech, even if what they’re saying is wrong or offensive?” Vaughn next asked.

“I think that one human being should not decide how millions of people communicate with each other,” Warren declared. “One human being should not be able to go into a dark room by himself and decide: ‘Oh, that person gets heard from, that person doesn’t.’ That’s not how it should work.”

Really? But that’s exactly how it worked before, although with maybe more than one person involved. What does she think was going on with Twitter before Musk took over? What did she think was happening under Jack Dorsey? Someone was deciding to shut down conservatives, who would get shadow banned or suspended. Someone was deciding to shut down stories that could hurt Democrats right before the 2020 election — like the Hunter Biden laptop story. Where was she to speak out about that? Strangely missing, because Democrats controlled the narrative so she was cool with such suppression because it helped her side.

Now Warren is objecting because of Musk? But Musk doesn’t want to limit people’s speech, he wants free speech, so everyone can speak — including Democrats. Musk fired the people who went into the “dark room” and decided to stop people from speaking because they didn’t like what you had to say. He’s also announced he’s going to release the “free speech suppression” Twitter files that he’s found. If you believe in free speech, you should celebrate that he’s this transparent and that he wants the platform to be this open. If Warren is objecting to free speech, one has to ask why? Maybe because it might call into question the liberal narrative that has dominated and through which Democrats have survived? Democrats are upset when more people get to speak.

Notice while the left has issues with Musk because he isn’t in their ambit of control, they’re not objecting to Mark Zuckerberg controlling Facebook because he’s given them a ton of money and they know he’s completely on the liberal train.

Didn’t they tell us it was a private company so why shouldn’t Musk get to decide? Isn’t what they told us before?

But thank you, Elizabeth Warren, for exactly outlining our objections to pre-Musk Twitter.
