Democrats Call for Republican George Santos to Resign, and They Can Go Pound Sand

Bonchie reporting for RedState

As RedState reported previously, Congressman-elect George Santos (R-NY) seems to have inflated his resume just a bit, and now, Democrats are calling on him to resign.

Santos apparently misled voters about some of his academic accomplishments and his supposed Jewish heritage. There are even questions about whether he’s actually gay, though I’ve been assured by the left for years that any questioning of someone’s LGBT bona fides is off-limits.

There’s no getting around it. Santos definitely stretched the truth about his past, and for that, Democrats want him to resign, setting up a special election that would likely end in their favor.

So should Republicans give in? In a word, nope.

New rules are in effect, and the GOP shouldn’t play sucker, harming Americans in the process (i.e. ceding power to the left), by abiding by the old ones. For decades, Democrats have lied about their pasts to no punishment whatsoever, and there are many, many examples.

Who can forget about Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who infamously lied about being Native American in order to boost her prospects for admission into college? Or Sen. Richard Blumenthal claiming he fought in Vietnam when he did not, in fact, fight in Vietnam? But while those instances are bad enough, they don’t hold a candle to another Democrat.

Of course, I’m talking about the one and only Joe Biden. You don’t even have to search long before stumbling across the president’s many, many epic lies about his past. Heck, less than two weeks prior to this writing, Biden told a completely made-up story about awarding his Uncle Frank a purple heart while vice president. He even went so far as to tell us what his uncle told him at the family-attended ceremony being described. The problem? Biden’s Uncle Frank died in 1999.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, though. In another instance, Biden claimed that an Amtrak conductor named Angelo Negri told him he had traveled 1.5 million miles on the service up through his time as vice president. The problem? Negri retired from Amtrak in 1993.

I can keep going. Biden once claimed he got into a fight with a black man named “Corn Pop” at a city pool, though no evidence of such an encounter exists. The president also claimed to have hit a 358-foot home run during a congressional baseball game in 1974, but records show he went 0-2. As to questions about his resume, Biden has claimed multiple times that he taught as a “professor” at the University of Pennsylvania. The truth? He never taught a class there.

Then there was the time Biden told a story about visiting Israel in 1967 as a “liaison” during the Six-Day War. He made the claim as a way to bolster his foreign policy record. A closer examination revealed that the prime minister he said he met didn’t take office until 1969. Even if we assume that Biden meant his 1973 trip to Israel (40 days after the Yom Kippur War started), he simply took a tour and did not act as a liaison to advise on the fighting, which was the core assertion of the story he told.

Perhaps one of Biden’s biggest lies, though, involved his supposed arrest along with Nelson Mandela in Soweto, South Africa. That simply didn’t happen, yet the president told the tale several times throughout his career. It wasn’t until September of 2022 that he finally admitted it was a falsehood.

Now that you’ve read this far, have you noticed what I haven’t even mentioned yet? That would be Biden’s plagiarism scandal, which was so bad that it forced him out of the 1988 presidential race. At the same time, evidence was uncovered that the president had also lied about his class ranking in law school. Despite assertions to the contrary, he had actually graduated near the bottom of his class.

To keep things rolling, I could get into the president’s long-told lie about the car accident that killed his first wife and son. I won’t, though, because this article is going to be thousands of words long if I don’t find a stopping point. To put it succinctly, the number of lies that Joe Biden has told about his past is absolutely astonishing. They just keep going and going, and he continues to spin new fantasies to this day, usually to bolster his own ego.

So no, Democrat calls for George Santos to resign should not be taken seriously. At least not until I see them calling for Biden, among others, to resign. They set the rules, and Republicans should play by them. That’s only fair.
