Biden Reportedly Was Furious Over Migrant Crisis. So, Why Won't He Solve It?
This one might come as a shock. But a closer look at the situation might make it less of a surprise. President Joe Biden is reportedly hopping mad about the ever-worsening situation at the southern border. Apparently, the pressure of handling the mess he caused has been getting to him, but not enough for him to actually do something about the issue. Perhaps there is a reason for that.
Fox News reported that the president “was furious and cursed repeatedly about the border crisis as illegal immigrants kept flocking to the overwhelmed southern border,” according to a not-yet-released book about the first years of his presidency. In “The Fight of His Life: Inside Joe Biden’s White House,” author Chris Whipple details the president’s constant frustration with the White House’s failure to get control of the migrant crisis in 2021. Amid growing criticism about the catastrophe, his aides reported his use of profanity when discussing the matter.
“Meanwhile, illegal immigrants kept arriving. And Biden was furious,” the author writes. “Aides had rarely seen him so angry. From all over the West Wing, you could hear the president cursing, dropping f-bombs (he’d always apologize when women were present).”
According to a senior advisor, Biden’s anger resulted from a “lack of solutions.”
“It’s like, ‘How would you feel if you were me and these were the solutions you had?’ It’s the weight of the presidency, right?’” the adviser added.
In fact, Whipple also notes that “Next to vaccine disinformation, this was the thing that made Biden’s blood boil.”
“Early in his term he had reserved the f-bomb mostly for discussions of the southern border, but lately he was using it more often,” he continued.
Fox News noted:
There were more than 1.7 million migrant encounters in FY 2021, and more than 2.3 million in FY 2022, as the border has seen multiple months of well over 200,000 encounters.
The Biden administration has touted a whole-of-government approach that has focused on tackling root causes in Central America — an effort led by Harris — cooperation with Western Hemisphere countries and restoring legal asylum pathways that it says were decimated during the Trump administration.
The reasons why the migrant crisis began were largely because of decisions made by the White House upon taking office. On the campaign trail, the president signaled that he would welcome an influx of asylum seekers. Right after being sworn in, he rolled back almost all of former President Donald Trump’s executive orders related to immigration, which many migrants saw as an open invitation to make the dangerous trek to the southern border. Caravan after caravan made their way to the U.S., hoping to gain entry into the country.
Of course, this begs a critical question: If Biden was truly frustrated by the situation at the border, why did he rescind his predecessor’s policies?
The answer appears to be political. The president is likely afraid to take serious action to stem the constant flow of asylum seekers and illegal immigrants into the United States because he does not want to anger the far-left open borders crowd. It would have a collective conniption if he dared to make such a move.
During a Friday appearance on “Fox and Friends” with co-host Brian Kilmeade, Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, slammed the Biden administration over the issue. He accused the White House of concealing border numbers to ensure that the ginormous $1.7 trillion spending bill passed.
“It’s all political. Everything that this administration does, it has a political calculus. They didn’t want to release the numbers because they knew the omnibus was coming up,” Judd said. “If they would have released the numbers, you would have seen a larger push to get border security funding in that omnibus. That’s what this administration does. They don’t care about the American people, they care about politics.”
The funding for Border Patrol was not allowed to go towards actually securing the border, but is to be used for technology to improve the processing of asylum seekers.
The omnibus bill passed the House on Friday, one day after it passed in the Senate. Nine Republicans backed the measure.
As the migrant crisis continued to intensify, it had many wondering why Biden wasn’t lifting a finger to solve the problem. If the details in the book are true, it means the president wasn’t happy about the fact that so many migrants were coming to the border.
It sounds like he didn’t want that particular headache. But again, if this is the case, his refusal to do anything about the matter can mean one of two things: He and his administration are woefully inept, or they are truly frightened at having to deal with the whining that would surely come from progressives if they took steps to address the problem.
Or perhaps it is both.
But either way – even if Biden is angry at the situation, he isn’t going to do anything about it.
