It's Not Biden's Gaffes That Matter, It's His Blatant Lies That Are Inexcusable
Every time Joe Biden makes another gaffe, keyboard warriors across America rush to slap up the “news” about the latest stupid crap that comes out of his mouth. But it isn’t Biden’s never-ending gaffes that matter; it’s his blatant lies that are detrimental to the American people, yet Biden appears unfazed by that reality.
Biden’s recent “Where’s Jackie?” gaffe was a perfect example.
Biden scanned the White House crowd on Wednesday, looking for Indiana Republican Rep. Jackie Walorski, who was killed with three others in an August 3 head-on collision, including two members of her congressional staff. Embarrassing? It should be. Newsworthy — from a journalistic perspective? Hardly.
Daniel Greenfield, Shillman Journalism Fellow at David Horowitz Freedom Center, shared his spot-on take of Biden in a recent Front Page Magazine column:
What’s really telling about Biden’s “Where’ Jackie” moment isn’t that he forgot that Rep. Jackie Walorski is dead. Or that she died fairly recently. What is telling is that the Biden administration has gone into defense mode, spinning obvious lies to pretend that we didn’t hear what we heard.
There’s not much in the way of a mystery about Biden. Trump has had multiple books written about him. There isn’t enough there about Biden to fill even half a book. But there is one mystery which is how out of it is he. Biden’s version of Trump’s chaos and madman theory is to keep people guessing how senile he really is.
His functioning can vary quite a bit. Republicans tend to underestimate his functionality while Democrats overestimate it. The truth is between him, his wife and his doctors. But the bottom line is that he’s not fit to hold office. And yet he and his handlers are determined to run for another term. No matter how implausible that may seem.
The real issue is Biden’s blatant lying.
As Biden continues to lie with reckless abandon and without conscience, seemingly about anything, the Federalist in March published a list of Biden’s lies since becoming president, which was updated on September 23. Here are several:
Biden Pretends Inflation Isn’t Hurting Everyday Americans
During his “60 Minutes” interview with Scott Pelley on Sept. 18, Biden argued inflation is not as bad as it seems.
“Let’s put this in perspective,” Biden said. “Inflation rate month to month was up just an inch. Hardly at all.”
“You’re not arguing that 8.3 is good news?” Pelley asked, noting that the annual inflation rate for August was up 0.1 percent from July and more than 8 percent since the same time last year.
“No, I’m not saying it’s good news, but it was 8.2 or 8.2 before. You’re making it sound like all of a sudden, my God, it went to 8.2 percent,” Biden said.
As Pelley noted, “It’s been the highest inflation rate, Mr. President, in 40 years.” Americans are struggling to pay their grocery and energy bills, which have cost hundreds of extra dollars compared to previous years.
“I got that,” Biden retorted. “But guess what we are. We’re in a position where, for the last several months, it hasn’t spiked. It is just barely, it has been basically even.”
Biden Falsely Claims Energy Costs Came Down
In the same “60 Minutes” interview, Biden claimed energy prices have come down, but data for August inflation show energy costs are up 23.8 percent since August of 2021.
Biden Says His Ridiculously Named “Inflation Reduction Act” Will ‘Get Control of Inflation’
Moments after denying that inflation is spiking, Biden claimed that it’s his administration’s plans, including massive spending plans such as the misnomered Inflation Reduction Act, that will “get control of inflation.”
“Is the economy going to get worse before it gets better?” “60 Minutes” interviewer Pelley asked.
“No, I don’t think so. We hope, we hope we can have what they say a soft landing,” Biden said. “…I’m telling the American people that we are going to get control of inflation. And their prescription drug prices are going to be a hell of a lot lower. Their health care costs are going to be a lot lower. Their basic costs for everybody. Their energy prices are going to be lower.”
Despite Biden’s self-professed optimism about the economy, reports from financial analysts including those at the Congressional Budget Office say Democrats’ spending will make inflation over the next five years much worse, not better, as Biden and his party claimed.
Biden Says Inflation Reduction Act Will Not Raise Taxes On Americans Earning Less than $400K
During an Aug. 16 signing ceremony for the Democrat Party’s $740 billion “Inflation Reduction Act,” Biden claimed that “no one earning less than $400,000 a year will pay a penny more in federal taxes” once the legislation takes effect.
Biden’s assertion, however, runs contrary to an analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), which estimates that Americans earning less than $400,000 a year “will pay an estimated $20 billion more in taxes over the next decade” as a result of the bill, “which also sets aside $80 billion to hire 87,000 IRS agents.”
Biden Repeats ‘Fastest-Growing Economy’ Lie
Biden told Jimmy Kimmel during a June 8 interview that the U.S. has the “fastest-growing economy in the world.”
Wrong.
White House Repeats Lie that Ban on Semiautomatic Weapons Decreased Mass Shootings
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre repeated the lie that Congress’s 1994 semiautomatic gun ban decreased mass shootings.
“When he — when we talk about the executive actions that he’s taken — more than any president at this time of their administration — those are real steps that this president has taken. And not just as president, during his Senate years, in 1994, the banning of assault weapons; that is something that he led on,” she said during a press briefing on June 6.
“And if we even look at what happened those first 10 years of that — of that assault [weapons ban] was in law — into law, it actually brought down mass shootings. And when it — when it expired in 2004, 10 years later, we saw mass shootings triple.”
Wrong, KJP:
A 2004 study funded by the Department of Justice, however, found that the Clinton-era ban was not the reason shootings decreased in the U.S.
“We cannot clearly credit the ban with any of the nation’s recent drop in gun violence. And, indeed, there has been no discernible reduction in the lethality and injuriousness of gun violence, based on indicators like the percentage of gun crimes resulting in death or the share of gunfire incidents resulting in injury,” the report stated.
“The ban’s impact on gun violence is likely to be small at best, and perhaps too small for reliable measurement. AWs [assault weapons] were used in no more than 8% of gun crimes even before the ban.”
So, there are just seven of the major 187 lies Biden has told since taking office, as of Sep 23. Serial liar? Of course.
The Bottom Line
Joe Biden has been a serial liar for at least his nearly fifty years in Washington politics and is guilty of multiple cases of plagiarism, as well. Research indicates pathological lying can occur because of low self-esteem and a false sense of self. People who lie pathologically may want others to view them positively, making things up to make them look better. Their desire to create a false sense of self could indicate that they are unhappy with themselves. Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. is a clinical example. He continues to insult intelligent people — who aren’t liberals, that is — without a second thought.
While Biden’s gaffes and lapses make for good fodder and ridicule, his serial lies are a larger problem; a problem unbefitting a president of the United States of America.
