MSNBC 'Expert' Malcolm Nance Claims Republicans Are Terrorists Like the IRA
Jim Thompson reporting for RedState
In April, I wrote about MSNBC’s “analyst” Malcolm Nance. Nance announced to great Twitter fanfare that he was “done” talking about Ukraine. He was off to war, damn it! He was gonna go full-Rambo on some Rooskies! He tweeted photos of himself all kitted up in a pristine uniform fresh off the LARP rack. He was subsequently mocked, furiously and without mercy, by guys who saw actual combat because Nance is an embarrassment. A posing, LARPing clown. The only thing he killed in Ukraine was a few hundred boxes of donuts.
For months, Nance continued to tweet (presumably) from Ukraine– not from combat but from park benches where (unlike his promise) he did a lot of talking. The only thing Nance has ever been good at shooting is his mouth. In an infamous video, Nance was seen pointing at the sky and checking his compass on his arm, as he announced the type of incoming ordnance (that’s something he could tell just from the sound) as he shouted STANDBY! STANDBY, all while doing his best impression of a confused John Belushi in “Animal House.”
To remind my readers, Nance is a LARPing clown. He was mocked while he was in the Navy, and mocked by everyone with common sense who has ever listened to his brand of nonsense. In short, he’s a clown.
So, it is no wonder that he’s back from his phony adventures, beating back hordes of Cossacks to hawk his new book. It seems his combat days are now concluded (although his Twitter account still has a photo of him wearing his LARPing combat helmet), and he’s ready to spread a new kind of nonsense.
He says the Republican Party is now an insurgency of white supremacist terrorists.
On Wednesday, Nance appeared on an episode of MSNBC on Peacock streaming service’s “Zerlina.” It was to sell his new book, and vomit out his feckless claims that Republicans AKA White Nationalist are an insurgency of terrorists that eventually Americans will have to fight in the streets (presumably in open warfare).
“As a terrorism expert… you have to understand what kind of terrorism we might be dealing with – you have to label it as white extremism because we have 30 percent of the population of the United States who no longer believe in the democratic norms that we established in the founding of the country. Let’s just be honest about that.
The January 6 uprising was an attempt to overthrow American democracy. And we have now learned from the hearing that Donald Trump intended to go there, to march down to the well of the House of Representatives, and essentially be crowned as a king.”
Where does he get this nonsense? Like everything else Nance does and says, it’s generally made-up on the spot, like his combat “expertise.”
Host Zerlina Maxwell teed up a softball for the MSNBC “expert.” She said:
“You call what is happening an insurgency. We have heard that term in foreign wars recently in Iraq. Talk about why you apply the term insurgency to what you see here as a persistent and ongoing threat of domestic extremists?”
Nance then added:
“I was reading their forums. I was reading their own intelligence about what they intended to do. It was pretty clear at that point that they were going to try to either overthrow the government or they were going to settle in for a long-term series of destabilizing actions using a political party, the Republican party, as their political base and then using violence, threat of violent extremism as a way to manifest change in the street.
So remove politics from the halls of power and change politics through violence on the street. This is called an insurgency. The insurrection that happened on January 6–that was one event. An insurgency is a chain of events. It’s common knowledge.
A year-and-a-half ago, when I was calling this an insurgency, people were saying, that’s crazy, this isn’t an insurgency, this isn’t like Iraq, it’s not like Libya, it’s not like Syria. Well, it is. And it’s well on its way.
It’s closer to the beginnings of the Irish Republican Army. You know Irish Republicanism, where now the Republican Party is Sinn Fein, and it’s just a matter of seeing who comes up as the original Irish Republicans in this story and starts carrying out acts of violence to affect change.
So, we are well on our way to a multi-year campaign that we are already two years into, this campaign where we may have to fight them. The ‘they’ in my title and the ‘they’ in my title is those who want to kill Americans are your neighbors.” (emphasis added)
