Those Trying to Cancel Joe Rogan Don't Care That He Used the N-Word

Jeff Charles reporting for RedState

If you think for a second that the far-left social media mob is truly offended that comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan said the N-word repeatedly years ago, I’ve got some prime oceanfront property in Idaho I’d like to sell you on the cheap. The manufactured outrage over this supposed fiasco is reason number 5,479,624 why we should never take the wokeist mob seriously when they wring their hands, after dredging up offensive remarks one of their targets uttered years ago.

You have probably already heard the news, but if you haven’t, here’s a quick rundown.

The so-called progressive Cancel Culture Community™ (CCC) is currently engaged in a campaign to get Spotify, the service which hosts Rogan’s podcast, to drop the comedian’s show. Why? Because he invited on two guests who expressed views that contradict the Democrat-approved narrative on the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccinations.

After it became apparent they would not be able to use supposed “misinformation” about the virus to bend Spotify to their will, the woke crowd reverted to their usual pastime of pointing at their opposition and yelling “thass raaaycissss!” until the company acquiesces. Members of the CCC dredged up old YouTube clips in which the comedian is using the N-word.

And yes, I’m talking about the hard “N.”

Now, we have high-profile progressives clutching their pearls and giving not-so-convincing performances, pretending to be exceedingly offended at Rogan’s remarks. The podcaster posted a video on Instagram in which he offered an apology for the years-old clips,” calling them “the most regretful and shameful thing I’ve ever had to talk about publicly.”

He noted that the videos circulating on social media contained “out of context” pieces, and that when he used the word, he was typically quoting others or having a conversation that involved the slur. “Instead of saying ‘the N-word,’ I would just say the word. I thought as long as it was in context, people would understand what I was doing,” he said.

I’ve got news for Rogan. They do understand what you were doing, and they are still trying to use it against you anyway.

It does not take a degree in rocket science to understand what is happening here. They are simply using Rogan’s past uses of the word to pressure Spotify to cut ties with him. They seek to ruin his career.

There are probably approximately seven people on Earth who are genuinely offended by Rogan uttering the slur. How do I know?

Because the outrage mob is rather selective in how they apply this standard. They are only “outraged” because it benefits them in this instance. Here’s how you can tell.

How did any of these people react when a clip emerged in which then-Senator Joe Biden used the N-word repeatedly when quoting someone else while discussing a redistricting matter? Did any of them call Biden racist? Did it affect their support for him one iota?

You already know the answer, don’t you?

Of course I’m not the only one who saw this early on. Journalist Glenn Greenwald also picked up this odd departure from the norm. He posted the Biden N-word video on Twitter and wrote:

If you actually think that finding old clips of someone using the n-word is proof they’re a racist, then you would find this [Down pointing backhand index emoji] infinitely more alarming and important given that he is kind of more powerful than Joe Rogan. But you don’t think that: it’s just a game to silence him.

Other comedians and media personalities have used the N-word extensively in the past as well. Howard Stern wore blackface and did a whole minstrel show routine in which he used the word liberally, for example. The worst he got was mild criticism. Nobody led a campaign to have him de-platformed. There was no social media mob out to get him.

But wait, there’s more!

Remember “The Young Turks”? Well apparently hosts Cenk Uygur and Anna Kasparian also had an intimate relationship with the N-word. Check out the video below:

When it comes to how they apply their standards, the left’s inconsistency reveals their duplicity. This is especially true when it concerns racial matters.

The only – and I do mean only – reason why they are bringing up Rogan’s use of the N-word currently, is because they want him to lose his platform because of his decision to converse with prominent medical professionals who express differing views on the coronavirus and vaxx. It is also because he interviews others who violate the tenets of wokeism.

There are no other reasons.

It is not because they are offended by the word. It is not because they actually believe Rogan to be a racist. It is because they view him as a threat. This is a political hit job, nothing more, nothing less.

The sooner we realize that most of the members of the far-leftist chattering class don’t actually believe what they say, the better off we will be. The vast majority of the woke crowd are not coming at this in good faith. This is about destroying the opposition, not addressing racism. As I have said often, the far-left does not view racism as a societal ill to be solved; they see it as a political weapon to be wielded. This whole kerfuffle is just another example demonstrating that point.
