Bidenomics: US Falls to All-Time Low in Key Freedom Index Rating

Mike Miller reporting for RedState

In this episode of “Try to Control Your Shock and Amazement”…

One word: “Bidenomics.” Specifically, Biden’s economic policies and their overall impact on the U.S. economy as a whole. Welp, America, just like everything else our hapless president touches, Bidenomics has turned to — er — established a new record. In the economic toilet.

Yup, you read that right.

Bidenomics has dragged America to an all-time low, according to the Heritage Foundation’s 2022 annual Index of Economic Freedom. As Heritage President Kevin Roberts incisively summarized, the report “paints a disturbing picture, both at home and abroad.”

As Fox Business reported, Roberts stressed the seriousness of the index.

This year’s Index of Economic Freedom paints a disturbing picture, both at home and abroad. The decline of American economic freedom is serious cause for alarm and has real and tangible consequences for all Americans, especially low-income families and the working class.

So here we find ourselves.

Little more than a year into the most disastrous presidency in history, the U.S. fell 2.7 points from the 2021 Index of Economic Freedom to a record-low score of 72.1, according to the data released Monday. The U.S. also fell to its lowest ranking globally, from the 20th spot in last year’s ratings to 25th in 2022.

As noted by Fox Business, the index, which was launched in 1995, evaluates countries in various key areas, including rule of law, government size, regulatory efficiency, and open markets, while also examining specific categories such as property rights, judicial effectiveness, government integrity, and tax burden.

“Government integrity and tax burden.” Oops. Straight to the crapper went the Biden Economic Freedom Index rating. Is it any wonder? Check it out:

As my colleague Nick Arama reported on February 10, according to the latest Real Clear Politics Average, inflation has now hit the highest rate in 40 years, jumping 7.5 percent since last February, the biggest year-over-year increase since February 1982, more than experts had expected. Among the reasons, according to AP: “shortages of supplies and workers” as well as “heavy doses of federal aid.”

As Nick also reported in January, Biden’s response to January inflation numbers — also a 40-year low? America, you’re about to travel through another dimension — a dimension not only of delusional sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a clueless land whose boundaries are that of imagination and bald-faced lies. That’s the signpost up ahead — your next stop, the Biden Zone!

Today’s inflation numbers show a meaningful reduction in headline inflation over last month. We are making progress in slowing the rate of price increases. But there is still more work to do — I remain focused on lowering costs for families and maintaining strong economic growth.

Earth to Joe: Hello? Dude? Listen, when even an MSNBC economist says you’re lying about the economy? You’re lying about the economy.

More, via Fox Business:

Americans are currently dealing with 40-year highs in inflation, with the consumer price index rising 7.5% in January of this year compared to the same month in 2021.

Biden’s first year in office also saw a supply-chain crisis, U.S. consumer confidence plunging to an 11-year low, industries rocked by vaccine and mask mandates …

And the U.S. national debt notching a new record when it surpassed $30 trillion.

Roberts put it in perspective. (Bracketed comments and emphasis, mine.)

Since early 2020, when the Chinese Communist Party unleashed the COVID-19 pandemic on the world [which Biden and the Democrat Party steadfastly continue to ignore], we have dealt with one of the greatest political, social, and economic upheavals of the past century.

The lives and livelihoods of hundreds of millions of people have been deeply disrupted, not just by the virus, but especially by draconian lockdowns, intrusive public health mandates, and restrictions on commerce and trade.

Trillions of dollars in new federal spending have further weakened our economy and caused a historic spike in inflation.

Lest any liberals read this article and race to the false argument of “Yeah, but COVID’s impact on America and the economy wasn’t Biden’s fault!”, the fly in that disingenuous argument is obvious: COVID affected every other country on the planet, as well. (See: “level playing field.”)

Finally, Roberts suggested the dumpster-fire numbers provide what amounts to a “learning experience” for Biden and his equally-clueless team of economic marauders.

We have an opportunity to speak to the very real concerns of Americans struggling in an economy where they are increasingly losing not just their freedom, but evermore of their hard-earned saving.

It’s time for the U.S. government to get its fiscal house in orderunleash freedom here at home and help Americans flourish once again through self-governance.

Um, Kevin? The chances of Team Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chucky Schumer — with the blessing of the majority of the Democrat Party — doing any of the above? Less than zero. Bank it.
